Best JAMMA switcher - only needs to switch between two boards

Hey everyone. I have two Mortal Kombat game boards that I want to switch between in one dedicated MK3 cabinet. One game board is an UMK3, the other is a MK4. Now wiring up the extra run buttons and whatnot should be cake, I just need to find another set of the extra harnesses. What I really need help with, is finding something to plug into the JAMMA connectors on the game boards that will let me flick a switch to choose the game.

This should be simple enough, although the MK series is one that requires the -5V. I saw that MameMan uses a 6-in-1 switcher on his setup, but since I'm only switching between the two I figured maybe there was something simpler I could use. I'm really trying to avoid having to wire up diodes and such.

What do you guys recommend?

there's a 2-in-1 much like the 6-in-1 one zenomorp and myself have. I just put an order in at jammaboards though and they're completely sold out of both kinds!

glad I bought my 6-in-1 when I did.

there's other kinds out there. there's a lot of members on KLOV that have their own crazy homemade harnesses and mods like that, give it time, one of them will get to you.

good luck

It sure looks like you can order them -- I just went to their online order form and it appeared to allow you to fill in fields, etc.

I wonder if you really have to add an extra power supply if you just want 2 games for it? There's no way to share it with the game switcher?

I'm not actually sure if I'd want all of the games powered up all the time. Sure, it makes for quick switching but I don't know that I'd want say 5 games all powered at the same time.

Agreed, that makes me very leery... You can't see what the other games are doing, what if its geeking out and overheating yet you don't know it because you're playing something different... :(

I can't believe there isn't a workhorse jamma switcher that is reliable, affordable and readily available... they sell in the hundreds if not thousands pretty easily...
