I was wondering what games have the best attract sounds.I like to hear all my games that do have attract sounds turned on it makes a gameroom sound like a true arcade

my favorites

1.Pole position
2.Journey(Plays seperate ways)
3.Gorf
4.Qix

Pole Position only has the 4 tones that play before the race start, correct? I Just got my cockpit Pole Position working and I notice only those 4 sounds on attract mode. MAME also has only those sounds as well. For some reason I thought the car engines also played.

Yes, Pole position has the 4 tones in the beginning of the game and attract mode.Glad you got it working!

Thanks. I gotta give a lot of the credit to Dick Millikan for getting the board running. That's definitely the biggest challenge with any Pole Position machine. I was able to revive the original Matushita monitor though. :)

The favorites in mine are SF2 (doesn't sound like an arcade without it imo), Virtua Fighter (AM2 had their own distinct sound to everything) and oddly enough, the PC10. When it cycles to TMNT or Double Dragon...the intro music is cool on those. :p

I also agree with Pole Position. I've heard the "doop...doop....deeeeep!" sounds in so many arcades from my youth.

My first reaction was Dragon's Lair, but I realized that it probably gets old really fast if you own one (the attract mode, not the game...hardy har).

How about Popeye.....NOT!

I only say this because my Popeye is burried and when I power on the arcade I have to listen to it every 30 seconds....^%$#!

I really need to dig it out and flip the dip switch!

I now submit Satan's Hollow. I did the resistor mod today and have been listening to the attract mode while cleaning and rearranging games. The stuck shield thing only happens once in a while, so not a huge turn off for me yet.

Good to see some JAMMA love. X-Men is one of my all-time favorite machines for attract mode. For whatever reason I love the intro sequence with its music.
