My basement arcade is still fairly new but this year I added a track and field cocktail. Seems like no matter what else I have, that is the game that eventually draws a crowd. It really gets everyone competing and having a blast. I'm not sure what it is about that game, in that cab but it's a crowd favorite. I honestly don't think it would be quite the same in an upright.
What games have other people found to be a real draw at get-togethers? What would you consider are real crowd pleasers when it comes to arcade games?

My Championship Sprint gets the most use at parties. Once people figure out that they have to madly fling the wheel around they have way more fun.

The pinball and Soul Calibur II for sure among random people, Neo Geo is the instant hit among gamers though. Sometimes there'll be a small line at the party just to switch out on Metal Slug--good times :D

My linked cruis'n world's get the most play at parties. Usually we make it a drinking game of it, cruise the world and looser of each race takes a shot

That's fucking awesome. I'll need to remember that when I eventually get a linked racer.

Pong.. everyone knows what it is and how to play it.

Even people who dont care at all about video games will play it.

The thing that gets played the most at parties is pinball hands down(doesn't matter if it arcade people or normies).

Second would be the pool table.

Then the games.
If its a party with non arcade people, the games that get played the most are games like Ms. Pac-Man, Star Wars, Burger Time, frogger etc. Pretty much either games they remember playing back in the day or games where the gameplay is really fun and its easy to pick up and understand.

Its been a while since we have had any adult parties in the arcade. Plenty of kid parties, age 9-15. With that age group, hands down, the 4 player air hockey gets the most play. The Time Crisis 3 and linked california speeds come in a tie for 2nd. Pinball gets no love.

My puck bowler was much enjoyed last year. Next, it was my pinball machines. I have older friends that would rather talk than be self-absorbed into a game.

None of my family or friends are arcade people like us. I've only had a few parties since I got all my games, but...

Pinballs get the most love by all.

Ms Pac is played by everyone, but mostly folks older than me.

Those who grew up in the 90's arcades gravitate towards SFII and MKII.

The young ones love T2 and Fix it Felix.

And everyone just likes to look at Tron. :D

That is amazing.

The pins are usually pretty busy. Pole Position and Ms Pacman are usually the first ones people play, but end up enjoying Bubbles and Indy the most.
