I originally was just using old PC power supply cords to replace my cords that have either have the insulation broken or missing the ground plug.

I found a bunch of NOS server power cords. The are about 9' - 10' long. They'll plug right into power supply games like Area 51 or you can cut the PC end off and attach the ends to plug it into something like a pac-man.

Super heavy duty, insulation is stronger, cord is long enough to plug in anywhere.

AND TO FIX THAT MISSING GROUND PIN!

I'm getting them free, but you could get them real cheap, maybe ebay or something.

Ok, I'm done for the week.

I used to use regular power cords too, until I discovered the "Shunyata King Cobra CX" power cords. Now I use them for all my games. Sure they're a little expensive at $5252.00 for a 10' length, but with their 5 gauge cryogenic conductors and dual counter-rotating HELIX geometry, it makes the games look, play and sound so much better!

Oh, I understand when you say that they are the best. I wish I could do the 10 foot cords, but then I wouldn't be able to buy them for all of my games. I do the simple 6 foot cords so I can cover all my bases. At $3500 each, I can't believe that everyone hasn't when this rout.

Not everything in the extreme audiophile hobby is absurd, but that certainly is. Are you also going to replace the outlet, replace the house wiring and shield that, seriously..? What about once the AC power on the receiver goes through the connector on the back, to smallish internal wires, then the printed circuit board?

What's a PCB? All my equipment only has these funny glass ampoules all over it...

I got a 10 footer from bob, and a buddy of mine got one from Paradise. Both are very nice, bob's is a longer cable tho. No complaints with either one, tho next time i might use http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2 and buy 10 or more as i replace the AC Cord on every machine i get that's been spliced/taped/damaged in any way (it's cheap insurance).

I use extension cords from Home Depot or Lowes which come in heavy gauges and 8' 10' or 12' lengths for a few bucks.

For games that use a Molex connector, I always stick with the factory set-up and crimp the terminals directly to the wire and then insert them in the housing. I'm not a fan of the automotive quickie splice connectors for 120v supplies.

Definitely good cords, but Ebay is crap. 2 dollar power cord, but 8 bux each shipping. Here is a place that has them for about 2 bux each:

I did an order for 10 and shipping to me was 8 ish, so roughly 3 each shipped. Not bad. Probably gets better the more you order.

Good old Monoprice. Nice people. Funny thing about their place. You have to order your parts from thier website always. They even have a computer on thier front desk to order parts from thier website frist.

Cheap prices on most stuff.

Yeah, I love Monoprice. I order all my computer and home theatre cables there, and even rechargeable batteries. I've used their power cords on a few of my games and they're quite nice. Way better than using a stiff, cheap cable from a PC power supply. Even with the extra cost of international shipping, they're still cheaper for me than anywhere else - especially for HDMI cables, which are criminally overpriced in most stores. :001_smad:

Some PC cords are really cheap. If you grab the power cord and it's on the warm side, It is time to toss it and find a better cord.
There are some really nice power cords out there even 12 feet ones.

I have seen arcade machine with retractable extension cords. Those arcades tends to have wheels on the bottom of the case so they can be rolled out and plugged in.

Monoprice has a good price on LCD Wall mounts brackets. That is how I found them in the frist place smiles.

LCD wall mounts and HDMI cables - thats what I've ordered from them. Any "home run" cables really, great prices.

I ran two 25 ft' HDMI cables (in wall) from the basement to the new LCD a few months back. Smashed the plug on the TV side of one of the HDMI cables. It was still a ~$25 cable, but at least it wasn't a +$100 cable!

Same here. Extension cords but I do have a bunch of extra long pc power cords I use from time to time. Depends on what I need.

....and I hate the quickie connectors as well...for anything!!

I like using 14gauge extension cord especially if running any long distances. I've even bought the Hospital Plug type in 14gauge before as well.

I ALWAYS replace the cord when I get a game, even if the cord looks good. I once bought a game that looked like it had a shiny new cord on it but on closer inspection there was a gash in it all the way down to the copper strands! It's a cheap enough investment and a quick fix.

I never heard of monoprice before, but I do like their prices. I just ordered 15 of the 16 gauge 10ft cords. I have wanted to replace all of mine for a while now, but I don't care for the angled plugs that Bob has now.

Shipping on this was $4.86 for overnite on 14 pounds of cords! :)

I haven't seen them yet, but curious why you didn't like angled ones from Bob.

I really wish I could the 45 degree angled ones that are on a lot of UPSs or Home theater equipment nowadays.

I wouldn't put ANY of that cheap junk on my games. Only the best:

Or I just grab one of the spare cables out of the server room at work....

By the way, I like Bob's pre-made cables but they don't come with the grommet on them and with the connector installed, you can't re-use the old one from the game...

they are just awkward for me to use. I usually need to pull the plugs straight out, and sometimes I can't reach the end.
