What cocktail game would you say is the best as far as gameplay not being sacrificed ?
i have only owned a Joust , I would say its as good as an upright, a Ms Pac, I would say its close to an upright, and a Defender, i would say its not nearly as easy to play as an upright.
So what games are as good in cocktail form as they are in upright form ?

As a kid, the cocktails I played were Galaxian, Galaga, and Donkey Kong Jr. Seems those three games were popular in cocktail versions in airports, hotels, etc. I enjoy playing all three on cocktail version. Sure, I prefer the cabinet. But for nostolgia, I especially enjoy playing Galaga on a cocktail.

If the trackball is in good condition, Centipede plays pretty close to the UR. I play most games much better on an UR, especially Asteroids Deluxe. I'd guess that Tempest would play pretty close to an UR as well...

Though I've never played one, I've heard the 2 player Joust coctail is the shiz-nitz. :)

For me Tapper is great in a cocktail. I recently was able to play the upright, and IMO the cocktail was more comfortable for me to play. I once owned Dig Dug and Centipede cocktails, and got rid of both of them in exchange for the uprights because I didn't like the smaller monitors and gameplay. Just my 2 cents.

I thought the DK CT was one of the worst because of the angle of the CP. The only one I really liked was Tempest especially because it has a full size monitor. My Asteroids CT is not bad either, but it has the smaller monitor.

Warlords!

With 4 players compared to 2 for the upright, I would say it is better as a cocktail!

+1 No contest in my book.

Space Invaders II had a mode where you dueled back and fourth and could hit the other player to steal his ship. That seems like it would be very cool.

1+ on the Tempest as it has to be one of the best looking CTs ever made IMO.

1+ on the Warlords. By design it should be the best.

But if you judge by design, Indy 800 should win hands down. I don't have enough gaming friends to fill that game up. But if I did, that game seems like it would be a blast.

I hear that Xs and Os (Atari's old B&W football was pretty fun.

And honorable mention should go to Qix. Just a very attractive sit down all the way around.

And lastly, we shouldn't forget that a well stocked VRs cab would classify as a CT and be pretty fun and versatile to boot.

I hate it because it took so long to fix, but I love the game although I have a REAL tempting trade offer.

Space Duel is nice... So you can go really go head to head instead of standing by each other.

Warlords, Tempest, Pong, Track & Field, X's & O's, Omega Race and maybe Space Duel are games that I would prefer in a cocktail.

Wait. What's wrong with those kids??? Those are *girls* playing an arcade machine! Heh...I just noticed the American flags. That is such a nice touch. Salute!

The main problems I have with cocktails are screen glare and seat height. If the seats are high enough and you're in a dark room, They are awesome. Satan's Hollow is great. Space Duel is even better (in co-op mode, of course). And I agree that Warlords cocktail is better than the upright.

I remember loving Bump'n'Jump cocktail at Pizza Hut BITD. How does it hold up now?

I'm very happy with my Tempest and Joust cocktails, but the thing I like most is the 19" monitor in each.

Hey. What other Atari's came with that style cab? Is Tempest the same? I'm starting to feel like I have something special over here. Well, I do. I love my SD! But you know what I mean. All the other Atari cocktails (with the exception of Warlords) just look...I dunno. I don't like them.

i've heard that 4-player Eliminator is pretty darn cool as well... like Warlords and Demolition Derby the game play is enhanced by the extra players.

Track & Field is at the top of my list for a cocktail, and second to that would be an Atari Football.
