Considering that you almost NEVER lose a flyback on the 4600, I'd say they have the longest life based on the fact that you can keep it going practically forever with routine maintenance. Parts are available to keep the G07, K7000, and 20EZ alive if they die, but if the flyback on the 4900 dies, it's toast....

I HATE working on 4600's but man they make a great picture when you are done.

The green gun in the tube likes to short sometimes. I've seen it on probably 4 or 5 of them. However, if you have access to a Rejuvenator, there is a chance to save it. I have also taken a 4600 chassis and put it on a G07 tube whoose chasis had a bad flyback. It worked out pretty well. I presently have two 4600's. They both need capped, one not as bad as the other and I put off doing them all day today and it never happened. They are good monitors, just not fun to take apart. The one in my Pac-man has what appear to be the original caps, the picture is remarkably good, its just a little squished where the scores are and a slight tweak on the right side of the screen. Very minor and works great otherwise. I am also a G07 fan. Those are probably my two favorite monitors. I also have no complaints about the Sanyo or WG7000. The 19" 7000 is a little newer than the others but I have seen them used several times in classic games.

You can't really compare vector monitors to color monitors. The graphics and the way the monitors actually operate are very different from one another. I will make a seperate poll for color vectors.

Amen to that. I finally decided to cap my Pac-man monitor yesterday. They were indeed the original caps. Amazing how much smaller some of the replacement caps are. Its got a great picture on it now but it sure was a pain in the butt to work on. The dang thing has enough sub boards in it. It would be even more reliable than it is if everything was integrated into the main board, but its still a good monitor.

Mine`s the origonal in my Defender, and in 30 years, has had NO trouble. Still has awsome picture for being shopped, converted (And burned in!), and back to defender. G07 All the way.

If your doing Pac-Man, though.....Those don`t last long....

20EZ`s have a nice pictre, but I don`t think it`s as sharp as G07.

Vectors have a nice picture, But There too expensive, and I`l heard some stories about them.......
