What would be the best cab to use to set up a Bubble Bobble? It's my wife's favorite game, and I'd like to set one up for her for Christmas this year.

What has everyone seen? I know it's a kit game, but there has to be some good candidates for conversion out there.

Can a Centipede cab be rotated to horizontal without too much pain?

since this is a taito game, i'd definitely take a taito cab as well, but not the ones used for jungle king or elevator action, but the crazy climber-style cabs.

i'm currently working on exactly the same thing, for those who are interested here's the link. i'll be using a double dragon control panel because as far as i know DD is the only old-school taito game!

It's gotta be wide enough to fit 2 people comfortably so they're not banging elbows (that almost sounded dirty ;) ) An empty already converted Williams cab like Joust or Robotron would be a good candidate, or any 2 player fighter cabs,

Based on history, I'd say the most converted cabinet was Joust. I have had 5 or 6 Joust cabinets that had been converted to Bubble Bobble. It was an easy conversion. Joust CPs already had 1 & 2 player start, 2 twoway sticks & a jump button for each player.

Mine came in a Defender, which allowed it a front facing monitor (vs. tilted like a Bally/Midway), a 1" wider control panel, and no sides to interfer with the edges of the control panel; important for 2 player side-by-side gameplay.

However, I dismantled it and sold the cab, but like you, it's my wife's and her friends favorite game, so they're asking for it to be back up and running.

I'm looking at something like a MK or Smash TV style cab with 25-27" monitor instead of 19", and a hair wider/deeper control panel and slanted front sides for better standing.

Too bad I've never found anything > 19" standard cabs up here.

KEN! Great to see you're back. Had to go back and see where you've been. I found the thread. Lots of pinball board repairs, eh? I've been down that road too. I'm bringing a KISS back from the dead.

Rep points for you, my friend. Glad to see you back. I believe I just popped you over 100, giving you two squares :)

I would have to agree with the Joust cabinet. Bubble Bobble looks pretty good in a Williams cabinet.

there's a Bubble Bobble down at Dorky's that's either in a Joust or Robotron cab (can't remember which.) it works pretty well.

i think a 19" Dynamo/DE cab also works well and looks good.

I'm also debating on a cab for my bubble bobble project. I have a Kangaroo or a HS-1 Dynamo. I have 2 projects for these cabs, the BB and a 6-1 vert shooter cab. I'm leaning towards the kangaroo for the BB at the moment but keep flip flopping.

I really like the way the original taito cabs look, but don't really like the monitor angle for this game. If I found a DD style taito, I'd use that.

About Dorky's, I go up to Lake Stevens 3-4 times year to visit family, is that place worth the trip south?

I'd hate to plan a day to go check it out, if the games aren't in very good working order.

Thanks
