Best Buy to start Selling Stern Pinball machines.

the plus for best buy consumers is the best buy card....hell, i might be able to swing a transformers LE after all if they sell that bad boy at best buy.

Depends if it sells out to the hardcores like Tron did. I have a feeling Best Buy is selling the Stones LE cuz there are a shit ton left over!

There is the tax issue as anyone who buys from BB will almost surely have to pay tax. However, on a $4k to $5k pin that will still be about the same as what it costs to have a pin shipped, perhaps a bit more.

Although doesn't best buy sell online with free in store delivery? That would mean tax free and no shipping cost...

dc2010, Who are you referring to as me "supporting". I have never had a issue with the Owner of Pinballz arcade, very nice guy, games are in great condition, and I applaud anyone that opens a place where we can all share our love for pinball and old arcades and keeps the hobby alive and out to the public. I also have no issue with Nickelrama either, the simple fact is if you want to play any pinball locally in Dallas, there are few places to do it. I have no problem supporting either one of those places.

you may not, but ask poeple in the know!

nice guy.....to your face

games in great condition.....until they need service then he doesnt want to pay the tech for the knowledge it took to repair

i applauded him too...before i knew how he is

i setup 85% of those pins, and converted ALL the reimports, my thanks? i got blamed to a broken machine i never worked on!

or ask all the people in the unemployment line.....as i was told in confidence by a founding "member" its a revolving door

i certainly realize ther arent many places to go, main reason why i wanted to help , but after seeing how he treats people, NO THANKS ill build my own....(it shall come to pass)

having a great place is more than the machines,

dc2010. It is unfortunate you had a bad experience with him, just because you dont like him doesn't mean the rest of us can't enjoy what he is doing keeping the hobby alive and out to the public. I know that the few times I have spoken to him, he was very polite, and answered any questions I had. If I have ever had a issue with one of the machines, I report it and they promptly refund my money no questions asked. If he was as shady as you claim, I highly doubt there would be so many positive reviews on his arcade as you can find pretty much anywhere online, dont believe me, go to Yelp and look at the reviews, almost all of them are 5 star reviews, you dont get that by being dishonest to people or running a unprofessional business. I will continue to support Pinballz as there aren't any places to go in Dallas to play Classic pins that dont have the name Stern on it. I enjoy the time there every time I have gone, it keeps the hobby alive and active and allows us that dont have massive, expensive collections at home the opportunity to play pins that we had long forgotten about and wished we could play again. You are certainly entitled to your view of it and I respect that, as am I. To each their own.

never said he treated customers bad ...and yes it keeps the hobby alive, just wish he treated his other assets well...

and im not asking anyone to boycott or anything like that, i choose to not have contact with him or his business, as others quietly do as well, enjoy it for as long as its there,(my guess is until he cant get a tax write off anymore ...5yrs?)

Sorry, but that is not what it means at all.

If you have a Best Buy in your state and you place an order online, you *will* pay tax on the item.

Thanks for clearing that up. I've never bought from an online retailer, so I wasn't sure.

Anyone who opens a pinball arcade and can't work on the games themselves is just asking to pour money down the rat hole.

Has anyone else bought a pin from Best Buy? I just did yesterday in store. FWIW, they don't offer in store pickup since it is sent straight from Stern. However, I did get $300 off by talking to the store manager, and he 1/2 way matched Amazons price, including free shipping. Tick.....tock...

What did you get?

Sorry, kinda left out that important detail. I got a Tron. And time has stopped moving since then...

Did you use your Rewardzone card? IIRC, 250$ gets you 5$ back yeah, so you can theoretically say that you got like what...another 60$ in store credit too? :p

i think this is really lame and takes the luster off of the entire concept of collecting arcade games, but I'm not interested in stern pins anyway so whatever.

I checked BB and Amazon's websites and both say $4799. What exactly did they match price-wise? Congrats on Tron. Very fun game IMO.

I didn't have any interest in owning a Stern pin either ...until I played Tron. People can call them "cheaply made" or whatever, but my Tron LE is MUCH more entertaining than my older Williams pins...

Own a couple old crappy ones, do ya?

Look, they're fun. But yes, they are cheaply made, too. I'll never get over how shitty the side art is when A) it looks like it was printed on a bubble jet, and B) you can't touch it for too long before it starts rubbing off.

With that said, they have many fine games. Games I enjoy and would love to own. But, yes... they are cheap as hell.
