OK, so this morning before I woke up, my wife set a bag on the night stand next to the bed. In it, I found the 5 Japanese (mostly Cave) shooters that I had ordered back in July and told her that she could give to me for my birthday. Then...

They named a tropical storm after me, on this my 42nd birthday. Then...

I went to dinner with my family this evening and after we ate, I was handed a small "poster tube" adorned with "happy birthday" stickers all over it. And the attached photo shows what was inside. Tomorrow I am going to pick up Tron LE #44 as my special birthday gift! I was going to buy it back when the game came in to the distributor who ordered it, but couldn't bring myself to go through with it, since we just finished re-moldeling a house that we put up on the market for sale. It was very expensive (over $20K) to prep the house for sale, and I wasn't comfortable with buying it unless the house had sold. In the meantime, I had to tell the distributor that it just wasn't going to happen. This week, my wife made arrangements to buy it out from under another person who was trying to come up with the money. I guess that it was "mean to be"...

I'm beginning to think my family doesn't love me. lol

Happy Birthday.

Also, your age is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything. So you got that going for you, which is nice.

After reading that I don't think my family even likes me let alone love me. Happy birthday you lucky sob.

I'm with the well-wishing bitter people, here...

Lee, you're going to love that thing....ramps and lights just make it look insanely beautiful, congrats!

That's awesome.
When me and the wife were dating and she bought me my Tekken slot machine for Valentines day. I knew right then and there she was a keeper. Of course there were other factors. ;)

Someone mentioned give your wife my wife's number. Uhhhh even if that happened I still wouldn't have the b-day you had.

Sweet!!!!!!! I will live vicariously through you for a while.

Enjoy your new toy!!!

Mark..

I was going to buy it back when it arrived in July, but couldn't bring myself to do it because we had just spent over $20,000 on a re-model of a rental property that we now have up for sale. We found out REALLY fast that the real estate market, even if you have something REALLY nice AND at an attractive/low price, is in really bad shape right now. I had expected that we would have had the house sold in less than a month, tops.

I am one of those people who is always "responsible" when it comes to spending money, and I was REALLY bummed about the fact that I would probably never be able to buy an LE machine, due to the fact that they appeared to sell out so quickly. Since I consider myself to be so "responsible", I have been very distraught recently over how reckless others behave (without any apparent consequences), and it made me question whether or not "doing what I felt was the right/responsible thing" was ever going to pay off in the long run and whether or not other people knew something that I didn't.

I keep a VERY close eye on politics and everything that has been (and is) going on in our world, and when you see that people are given $500,000,000+ in federal dollars for a "green energy" business (where there never actually WAS a business) and when they shut their doors NO ONE even bats an eye, it makes me question as to why I even bother busting my tail to keep making sure that the government can keep collecting taxes from me and my corporation. And the government gets PAID by me even if times are so tough that we can't afford to pay ourselves. Thankfully, we are not currently at that point, but it has happened from time to time when things are especially slow. I have been in business for 20 years now, and just this week I came to the realization that for the last two years I have been essentially "spinning my wheels". I felt like my entire "life situation" has not progressed by any measurable amount since I turned 40 two years ago. As an experiment, on Thursday morning I asked the owner of the plastics shop that molds most of our plastic parts if he was any better off now than on September 1, 2009 and without hesitation, he said that he was "worse off" in so many ways.

So, I guess you can say that this surprise came at a time when I REALLY needed it. My wife really did come through at a time when it really meant a lot to me. I also tend to get pretty emotional this time of year due to the anniversary of September 11. I am comfortable about myself enough to openly say that when I pulled this poster out of the tube, I lost control and started crying in a public restaurant. Because I knew that my family understood how important this was to me. Thanks to all of you on the "congrats" messages, and I look forward to picking this thing up here in a little while. Sega Rally will get moved out of the way later this evening, so that the Tron LE can claim it's rightful place next to the Machine: Bride of Pinbot and just down from the Cyclone and my old EM Coney Island Rifle.

Thanks everyone...

Lee

Oh, and as for the Cave games, they were:
DoDonpachi Resurrection 1.5
DoDonpachi Resurrection Black Label
Akai Katana Shin
Ketsui Extra
Eschatos (the only non-Cave game, but really neat)

I already had both of the Deathsmiles games, Mushihimisama Futari 1.5 and Espgaluda 2...

I've either got to stop reading these threads or get some professional help.

Nice score...I'd be crying too if my wife spent that much money on me, for an entirely different reason though.

That's just an awesome story. I celebrated my 40th last week, I don't think I even got a card from my wife. I did, however, get a "surprise" party with the the fact that she knew I had to get up at 5 AM the next morning for one of my annual golf tourneys. Congrats on your grail! May you BOTH enjoy it as one.
