Well I've been strung along for several weeks by epromman. There has been poor (or no) communication throughout the whole process, mixed in with telling me my order would ship, refunding my money and saying he was going to be out sick for at least a week, vague status updates after that, and then finally saying he'd let me know when he had more inventory. Took a couple more attempts to get him to clarify that because how would he not have inventory when he was an inch from shipping my order at the outset??? At least now he's clearly stating that he may not have the parts for a couple of months. But in the meantime I've just wasted weeks waiting for him to come through.

So now I'm so irritated that I don't really care if he's the cheapest and most convenient source out there. I was reluctant to look elsewhere because I want to stock up on a whole variety of 27Cxxx chips for various uses, but now I'd rather buy a few here and a few there at greater expense to get everything I need than buy from him.

Now the question is, what's my best alternative? Searching ebay? A local electronics junk store? Something else?

I'd just ask if anyone on here has the items you need first.Tons of great people on here. There's bound to be a fellow KLOVian who can help you out or at the very least direct you to someone who can.

Yeah. I got fed up with Denis as well. I put an order in back in December. Got an email back that just said "On vacation till January". Emailed mid-January. No reply. First of February. No reply. Mid-February. No replay.

I finally just ordered from an obsolete chip broker. Not as bad as some places but not as good as Denis.

Jameco - 2732a $3.95 ea., 27c32 $5.95 ea.
Digikey - N/A, N/A
Mouser - N/A, 27c32 $18.26 ea.
Unicorn - 2732a $4.49 ea., 27c32 $4.99 ea.

The thing I've always wondered is where the guys like epromman get their chips. I've dealt with quite a bit of old computer and networking hardware, and I nearly never see a useful eprom.

I tried to do an order at the beginning of Dec.....I got a response of....we're moving our warehouse, try again in a month. I'm now glad I did not..."try again".

I tried to order about a week ago, and was told "We're temporarily out of stock."

Same thing happened to me and I was planning to but several hundred pieces. I'm REALLY glad I didn't.

Ordered from Dennis last week and got my order yesterday. Maybe they got all the bugs worked out?

Maybe contact Steph at HobyyRoms.
http://www.hobbyroms.com/

Not sure if he has a source to share or sells bulk or what, but he's always been helpful to me.

I'm having a hard time sourcing eproms too,
and have seen a steady increase in the price of blanks chips.
(...especially 4Mb eproms which have tripled in price in the last 2 years... )

As such, I don't sell blanks myself, because it depletes my stock
for other orders.

Lately, I've been dealing with Shelly at VeraCruz Electronics ( in CA ).
Prices are a bit higher than EpromMan, but still reasonable compared
to on-line stores ( Digikey, Mouser, Jameco, etc...) ,
but the quality is much better ( cleaned and erased, with very few,
if any, bent pins, and properly shipped in tubes ... )

Contact is [email protected]

Cheers,
Steph

Thanks again Steph. Got my order placed today. More expensive than epromman, but they have everything I need and I don't have to deal with the BS that epromman put me through.
