I have done cap kits before with my cheap $20 radio shack soldering iron. Well they seem to last on a few times until they die. What is a good quality soldering iron for around $50 to $100? I also noticed many have hot air device with the setups, can you use that for cap kit installs? Just looking for the easiest and quickest setup to make my life easier with cap kits.

Also.. I want to get into chip burning and erasing. What is an inexpensive set that works, doesn't have to be top of the line, just want to be able to fix stuff for myself and friends as there isn't many people locally that do it. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Thanks Hewitson, I will check that out. I ordered a GQ-4X eprom programmer, uv eraser and a bunch of eproms for some vs games. Now I just need to get the soldering station so I can fix my monitors I have with the few monitor cap kits I just bought. They guy on here I have burn my eproms is amazing and I wouldnt take business from him.. just want to play around and learn this for fun and friends I know that need some stuff done.

Get the hakko 808 desoldering gun. Just got me one a few weeks ago and made my life alot easier. Was using one of those cheap ones from radio shack. Not worth it.

Hope this helps
