Got these for $10 at Lowes, they are in the holiday section (normally $20, on sale 50% off).

Three remote grounded outlets with a single remote key fob with a button for each of the three outlets. I think the package said each could handle 8 amps, enough for 3-4 typical games.

I'd shown my wife these a few weeks ago and she got me two packs, which combined with the power strips I had been using, were plenty for over a dozen games. Easy power up, no more reaching around, bending over, or getting on my knees to turn on games. Have fun with the quote hacking. I will probably buy a couple more packs if they still have them, these would be handy for a lot of other things too.

Great thread...

The best $10 I ever spent on my game room was on a red police light that rotates around. Wal-mart

Let's see what everyone else says was the best $10 they spent on their gameroom.

say what you will...

I still prefer the 'clapper'....

but I will look into that... sounds cool.. I have a few games that are a bitch to turn on...

I'm not so sure that turning on 4 games connected to a device meant to handle 8 amps is a good idea.

Depends on the games. 4 19" raster games isn't likely a problem since the 4 use from .9amp to 1.2 amp max... and giving that start up draw is usually around 50% more sometimes 70% more and rarely double consumption, it would be about the most I'd consider putting on one. 4 vectors? Not going to happen safely.... sure the running current draw is likely right at or slightly less than 8 amps, the start up surge would be somewhere between 12amps and 16 amps. Now he DOES say each outlet has it's own power up button... so if he powers up one by one, that lessens the startup current draw considerably.

you can bet that power on in rush is a factor of 1.15 FLA as is with most electrical apliances so if FLA is .9 amps your inrush would be 1.05 amps

I dunno... using my Kill-A-Watt device I've seen power-on spikes hit nearly double their normal running amperage. That said...the device perhaps isn't the most accurate in such cases... I dunno.

Vids and pins might be worse due to the degauss circuit, steering wheels spinning/calibrating at startup, etc.? I saw some big spikes when turning on some games, too.

Either way... 3 separate remote outlets for $10... even if you were ultra conservative you could put only 2 games on each outlet and be very safe. Most of mine have 2 or 3 games each. For my VR's (power hogs) I used one outlet for each Twin.

I splurged and spent $11 on a 6-month subscription to Gameroom Magazine. The subscription is normally $15 and worth every penny, but being a cheap bastard, I used a $4 coupon code. I got my first issue on the day after Christmas and I have already read it cover to cover.

I understand I can get 20 years of back issues on DVD for around $100 (down from $150). Tempting....
