Berzerk Restore

Now for paint. What I did was rolled the first coats on both sides then wait about 10 min then rolled again then wait another 10 min and then rolled the last coat. I let the paint dry for 20 to 30 min might need longer depending on the temperature outside. Just enough so the paint looks somewhat dry.

Then I carefully peeled the stencils off both sides being REALLY careful not to smug the still tacky paint. I let this dry for like 7 days or so before even attempting to start the red stencils.

As I was waiting for the blue paint to set up I started working on the front PCB door and cutting out the rear door for the cabinet.

After like a week I started applying the red stencils. It was a total pain in the ass to get it lined up right and I had a hell of a time with it.

And used the same process with the red as I did the blue waited 10min and so on...

And finally here is the end product all summer working on this thing just to get to this.

In this picture you can really see how nice the gloss looks on the semi-gloss black.

So at this point things are looking good I did have to go back and do a bunch of touch ups around the artwork but it looks good now. Now I started finishing up odds and ends like painting the back door and the front PCB door and all the metal parts.

I decided to paint just the center of the door in gloss back and the rest in a hammered black with looked kinda brown to me but I like the way it turned out.

Hung up parts to paint with the hammered black paint. Have the marquee brackets here and the coin door sides.

Coin door in the cabinet cant really see the two tone effect with the gloss black center.

To compare what the coin door looked in the beginning.

So the next big issue is what to do about the chrome parts. I still have as of yet to resolve this problem but I need to start looking for a place.

I also have to go through and redo all this crap on the back of the coin door and respray it all silver after I clean all the rust and corrosion off of it.

So far this is were I'm at that and I have to start working on a monitor and wiring up the cabinet. Then there is also the issue of working on the boards yet and cutting out the wood for the CP. One good weekend could resolve a lot of this I just hope I can figure out the chrome issue.

Well I have been working off and on on this when I have had time. I have been doing the acid damage repair over the weekend on the ZPU-1000 PCB. I had to order parts from China and that took two to three weeks or more for them all to get here. So here is were I got with the CPU repair.

Before

After

I missed ordering a 1/2 watt resistor so that's in the mail and I also need to order a replacement for the bad reset switch. I haven't put the order in for the switch yet. This was more on the worse end of acid damage repair if you ask me. After all the research I had to do I should offer acid repair kits lol.

Its been a while but I have been working on all the boring stuff for this game. Just repined the entire PCB set and found a lot of acid creeping into the wires from where the CPU battery acid deathed this also totally runied the power supply totally not even worth saving. A note to anyone restoring a Berzerk start with the power supply wires and CPU wires first because I literately had to cut the entire harness apart and replace every wire form those 3 connectors.

I still have to do the interconnect cables.

Beware these 3 connectors acid likes to creep through them to the other boards.

So close now... I need to get the monitor chassis cleaned and then drop the monitor back in the cabinet. Then get the wire harness installed and get the interconnect cables on the board set. Need to order the switcher power supply conversion kit then I can actually fire up the game and see it it even works lol.

And a few coats of black paint I did install the T-molding but don't have a picture as of yet.

I would need the measurements of that CP-underconstruction, my one is totally missing...
