I was playing my cab the other day and I noticed the barriers the prevent you from going through a door can be bypassed if you're going down. Lemme explain:

If your in a maze and you take the top exit you come into a new maze with a barrier over the bottom since you just came from there you shouldn't be able to go back right? Well I was dodging a shot and accidentally went backwards and instead of dying like what normally happens when you touch a wall the game let me through and put me in a new maze.

I've tried it a few times after and it's never not let me through. So I'm wondering if this is a known issue? I've never seen it mentioned before anywhere. Is it possible for anyone else with a Berzerk machine to try this and see if it lets them through as well?

Another question since this isn't mentioned anywhere do you think this would be allowed in a TG high score attempt? They don't say anything about it not being allowed.

Hey!
I just got my Berzerk up and running a week ago, and of course trying it afterwards..
And - i have encountered the same thing you mensioned!, and my first thought was, hey, wasen´t i supposed to die there??!!!

Well that is promising I wonder if it's cause your foot hits the exit before the game realizes your supposed to be dead. I know I've had a few close calls with Otto before I've made it to an exit. Where I'm sure I should be dead.

Didn't try that yet, but will soon. I did notice that if a bullet goes straight between "your" head and body, you won't be hit either. There's a 1 pixel space that allows this to happen it seems. Only if you stand still AFAIK and only with horizontal shots of course.

Works on the Atari 2600 version too!

There is another glitch/trick someone here told me when I was in a (low) high score competition with a buddy. You can get 3 or so rooms of yellow non-firing robots if you go the right directions at the beginning.

I don't remember it exactly, think it involved going up and back... Maybe someone else remembers.

The robots change color in relation to your score, so provided you keep it below a certain threshold you can keep the robots whatever color you desire.

That was actually a brain fart... I just meant non-firing robots. You can go like 4 screens without them shooting back.

Sorry.

This has been mentioned before. Check out the Quick Strategies section on the bottom-left side of the webpage below. It's a nice strategy for starting your high score!

Nice site. Those world records are really out of date however :)

I wrote up a strategy guide for a buddy of mine awhile back that I guess you could classify as an "intermediate" guide for players.
