I admit I've done little research past searching through old threads and reading about SCSI cable usage.

Since I read that the connectors are .1 spacing, would it be possible to use .1 Molex housings, .1 crimp contacts, a lot of wire and a lot more time to scratch build them? Any reason why these pins won't work?

Thanks..

You can do that. In fact, I installed a set of replacement Berzerk connectors for a customer that had been built out of the parts you are referring to and they worked fine. I don't know where he bought them, and I was amazed that someone would spend that amount of time building cables, but they worked.

Thanks for the reply! Glad to hear someone else has done it. I just happen to have the connector pins, the time, and it seems most of the cables people use don't fit exactly right.

I meant to post to the repair section.. oops!

I've done cables with crimp pins, and despite being a complete pain in the ass to build, work great... I'd suggest using IDC crimp connecters and ribbon cable wherever pos "sible for simplicity and use crump pins and housings only where necessary.

I'm thinking it would take a lonnnng time, but I bought a bunch of the pins from GPE.

I always replace IDC stuff with housings, but usually cuz the IDC connector is coming apart. Good point though.. Thanks all.

IDC as in ribbon cables with clamp on ends like SCSI cables... those won't pull out like the wider space IDC cables they used stock.

Oh, I see. I've never used those. I may do that, as it will be a while before I get around to the Berzerk. Too many other projects are in the queue.
