Hi there,

Okay, so I need a little hand-holding on this. I have a Spy Hunter, and when you power it up, there are sometimes a jumble of characters/colors on the screen.

A think I had heard awhile ago that this may be the power supply, and that I need to replace the caps on the PS. Do you guys concur with this diagnosis, and if so, where can I get a PS cap kit for it?

Thanks!

It could be a lot of things...

- It may need a cap kit for the monitor, but jumbled graphics means the PCB's are the problem.

- Start with power and interconnect cables. I got a project SH that didn't work. All it needed was new interconnect cables (Bob Roberts) and a working power supply.

If your power "suitcase", or the power circuit board are not putting out the right voltages, it can cause the problems you're talking about.

I agree, reseat your ribbon cables first, and then check to see what voltages you are getting at the PCB. You may be able to adjust them (5volts, 12volts) if needed at the MCR power supply.

Thank you. I have a volt meter, but how do I check the voltages, and then how do I adjust them?

I concur, also if your reset circuit from the power supply has been eaten up by the alkaline dripping out of your battery above it, it'll never send the reset voltage to the gameboard and it'll do what yours is doing.

Pics would help us know quite a bit more. The battery and surrounding area is one area we would like to see.
