Been trying to identify a couple of games for the last several years...

I think this is the longest anyone has stumped Mod. He usually gets it on the first fuzzy description ;)

I'm curious if this is actually a game or if your memory is putting 2 or 3 games together ;)

I don't think so.. (I hope).. Because if I was, I think I'd "remember" more of the game PLAY. And I don't.. Never got to actually play it much, which is why I wanted to identify it.

It was a cocktail style cabinet, and I pretty much just re-read the instructoins at the side and watched the demo screens on sundays while waiting for lunch for a month or two.. (My parents went on a short church-bender, and we went to Country Kitchen afterward. <eyeroll>) This could not have occured any later than 1984.

So I mostly only remember it by the enemies that were on the instructions to the side on the cabinet, and the demo.

I'm virtually positive that the little fireball guy was named Fry-something.. The dragons had similar names to eachother but slightly different. I can't for the life of me remember what the "good guy" looked like at all. I just remember taking a fancy to the baddies and making them out of modeling clay.. (I did the same thing with the Mario Bros baddies.. Yes.. I'm a weirdo..)

Ponpoko?

Not The Tower of Druaga, no, don't worry. :) It was side-view, not top-view, platforms and I think some ladders.. maybe some moving platforms, but that's too vague in my head to say so..

Definately not Pyros. That's too late and way too nice graphics.

It's not Ponpoko, but that's the right graphics level.

Screen doesn't match, but some of the better known elements do...

Mighty Monkey

You're right.. That's not it, but wow.. That is a fantaticaly funny How to Play to read. :D The art of the fireball thing is the right kind of idea, at least art-wise. With the eyes I mean, and maybe the feet... (I'm not sure it actually had feet in-graphics or just floated on the ground..)

Yeah, some of this stuff looks like maybe it was even photoshopped, lol.

It must have been great to be around back then and see all the bullshit games that came out, I was too young to notice.

BTW, to MasterFygar I was just messing with you up top, trying to be funny.
