Taito Change Lanes... I've got a nice almost complete game.. It fires up, but the graphics kinda bleed a bit.. Almost playable.. Over the last few years I've sourced a control panel, 2 extra pcbs sets (both DOA), and a interconnect pcb..

I need a gas pedal, or a picture of what it looks like.. Pcb that works or more parts pcbs.. How about this, does anyone know of a taito change lanes anywhere? Llyod had a complete game at coinopwarehouse, missed it :(
Couple pcbs were sold on eBay.. Missed those too..

Come on! Anyone have any info on this one?? Damn game is gonna be a life long project.. Ha!

I'll even hook someone up with nos parts or other arcade crap I've got, if they lead me to some CL parts or a whole game.

Thanks!

That's funny, I actually emailed the only listed owner of this game on VAPS this past weekend. He said his cab was too damaged to make a good restore and that he had sold it long ago. He suggested contacting Todd Tuckey....

Does anyone had a good picture of the bezel for this game? Or even a bad picture of it??

Todd

I've actually spoke to Todd a few years ago.. He's got one in his warehouse waiting to be restored for his own collection.. He's the only person i know that actually owns one..

My bezel is near mint if you want a photo?

Cool

I've got a couple ads for this game, but not this one! Nice to see the gas pedal, but I have a feeling it might be just a mockup for the shot. As the pedal looks a bit different in the manual.. Plus looking at my machine, I'm not sure it would connect right.. But hell, it's a start!!

Heh, I've owned this game for years and never noticed that the front of my game was painted black.. Just walked out to the garage to take a better look at it.. Guess when you've owned something so long you just dont notice it staring at you :)

I'd also like to mention why I'm so determined to restore this game.. Seeing as there are less than 3-4 of these that I could find I think it deserves to be donated to funspot. Funspot is only a few hours away from me and I'd like to see this game playable and easily accessed for anyone to play.

Please keep this thread alive, bump it, ask around, please help me find the parts to get this game restored and up and running.. Hopefully Funspot will have a spot for it! If you've never played it, try it in mame!! It's actually a really fun game!

Here is a picture of what i'm working with..

a picture of the bezel would be great.

I'm painting some stripes on my walls and want to copy the design. That games got some cool stripes, if you ask me.

Pete, I scored a boardset from a small-time Op some months back as well as the manual for one. Even had a Kram manual! I can ask if he has/had the cab since he has a couple of storage units....

Living in the Chicagoland area all my life, I can tell you I never even saw this particular one bitd. Which is surprising since Taito's main office was in the 'burbs. So not sure if this was a dud or a small production #

I'm on a crusade to get every Taito based game before '86 excluding some titles - even been scoping Yahoo Auctions for some of the 'rarer' boardsets. I'll be on the lookout for you on any items related to this game.....

Very cool

Have you tested your pcb set yet? If you wouldn't mind snapping a few pictures of it and sending them to [email protected] I'd be thrilled.. As I have a few sets, all DOA, but each one is a little different. The header pins don't match up and some have different chip sets.

I'd be more than happy to test yours out for you :)

I have not...... I'll dig her out his weekend for you.

Does it run on Qix hardware?

Also I looked into this title, and I believe this came out the same year as Grand Champion - which I DO remember seeing quite a bit. Wonder if Change Lanes was just overshadowed by G.C.?

Pcb

I'm pretty sure the 3 pcb stack uses (2) z80s like Qix and Zookeeper.. But it's a sandwiched stack like frontline, jungle king, etc.. Just has different header pins.. Grand Champion did come out around the same time, but GC doesn't have the pcbs in a stack, and seems to have a bunch more boards to it..

Buddy of mine owns a GC, I was hoping to snag some parts of it for this game.. But the gas pedal, controls, and cabinet are different.. Weird how both games were developed and built around the same time and they don't share much of anything.. :(

Seems like CL was more of a fun, wimsicle type of racing game.. Where Grand Champion was more of a legit (heh, for that time) racing game. Who knows really.. Just wish it was a bit easier to source parts, or even someone who owns a CL..

Change Lanes uses a boardset that looks similar to Jungle King and Elevator Action....I still have mine and hope to eventually bring it back to life and in my game room...its a really great driving game!

Please!

Todd,

Your the only person I've met over the years that owns a change lanes! A while back we spoke and you said it was packed away in one of your warehouses.. Any chance you could snap a photo of the gas pedal? As mine is gone..

Do you have any spare parts?

Thanks Todd!

I found these online I hope they are what you were looking for!
