Just finished her up this weekend.

  • Removed remaining remnants of Street Heat Kit
  • Bondo
  • New Paint Cabinet, Doors, Brackets, etc.

Note on the cabinet paint: Used already matched color code for Sherwin Williams from this post:
    http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showpost.php?p=1751565&postcount=27

    BAC COLORANT OZ 32 64 128
    W1 White 6 28 - 1
    L1 BLUE 2 27 - -
    R3 Magenta - 2 1 -
    Y3 Deep Gold - 6 - -

Though I had mine mixed in enamel instead of Latex. (Latex is too soft.)

  • New (used) Speaker. (The street heat kit had a speaker screwed into the bottom of the cab.)
  • Wire brushed and polished all bolts.
  • NOS Coin Mechs
  • Cut new cardboard bezel for monitor.
  • All new coin and instruction stickers.
  • New Side Art (Flyer placement)
  • New Control Panel with repro joystick from Mike'sArcade.
  • New Flat White T-Molding (T-Molding.com)

Lighting is off in this photo but the color really is dead on.

mmmmmmmmm....... 80s electronic porn. Looking good.

How do you like that control panel. I'm going to have to either do some major work on a DKjr control panel or get a new one. The joystick is still sloppy even after working on it.

I absolutley LOVE the joystick. It is an exact repro of the original IMO. The micro switches and buttons leave something to be desired but you can reuse those off your old one. He does sell just the joystick for $65 I think.

BEAUTIFUL work, love the attention to detail on the metal and really like that last close-up shot.

Very nice! Inspires me to get mine done. A couple questions if I may:

1. What do you call that black surround on the monitor? Did you make your own or purchase one somewhere?

2. What did you use for paint?

As far as I know it's just called a cardboard bezel.

I made it from the original. If you check out the Flickr set in the first post, you'll see the original was just a piece of black cardboard.

Sherwin Williams Enamel - Matched color code is on the first post. I used a Super Smooth foam roller to paint it on.

Thanks for the comps.

Also it is pretty interesting that your original coin sticker and your replacement are much higher than the position on my DKjr:

You guys are nuts with this "placement" thing. You realize that these were made on an assembly line with a bunch of different people working on them every day. The assembly line instruction probably was, "Make sure to put the coin sticker in the middle here." Not, "Measure 2 3/8 inches from the bottom and 21 13/16 inches from the left edge."
