So I finally purchased my first cabinet, I've been kicking around the idea for a while now. Its a Beast Busters Second Nightmare that everything works except for the monitor. Would it be worth while to get the monitoring working and try to sell it or should I make it into a MAME cabinet like I had originally thought? I can't seem to find out a whole lot about the game (which makes me think I wouldn't be able to sell it for more than I paid for it) and I don't ever remember playing it/seeing it as a kid. Is it a rare gem and should restore at all costs or keep along on my project?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't MAME it regardless, if you don't feel like restoring it I'm willing to bet you could sell it as-is to someone who does, you don't see too many of those games around and it would be a shame to wreck it.

God, yes. Get a generic cab for your MAME project. Don't ever destroy an original for a multi-game. That's like killing worthwhile citizens for your Frankenstein. Find your parts in the grave, Doctor.

There's a dude on CL in Texas right now selling 60-in-1's in vintage cabinets. I saw an ad for one yesterday in a sweet Super Cobra and had to stop work and smoke a cigarette to keep from crying.

Can you start the game even though there's no picture...meaning can you hear game noises. What I would is check out the folks on arcaderepairtips.com. They have a section about games that play blind and how to troubleshoot. I was having issues with my first (and only) game and was getting frustrated, take your time and be patient but don't convert it.

Thats a shitty game for home use. Fix the monitor, play it, then sell/trade it off for something better.

I owned one once. If you play through the game you will never want to do it again.

I even unplugged the motors in the guns, to try and make it less obnoxious. Worked, but the replay value is still non-existent.

Thanks Brick, that is likely the route I will be going with this. The cab serial is #046 (or #048, how sad is it that I forgot overnight) so they likely didn't make a whole lot of them. Now its time to learn how to fix a monitor without shocking myself ;-)
