I have a Beach Head 2000 with a serial dongle. When I purchased the machine the disk was given to me as a second game that just needed to be installed....I installed it and now I only get a screen that asks for the USB dongle to be plugged in. I do not have the dongle and would like for the machine to go back to working with Beach Head 2000.... Any suggestions? Thanks

**Update I discovered all of the Beach Head files are still there but the shell that the manufacturer uses is still trying to open the desertwar game that was installed. I need to figure out how to make it boot into the old files...If any of this helps..Thanks

I might have a copy of Beach Head 2000 but I know that I have Beach Head 2002 ver C and some extra parallel dongles though. Theres a slim chance that I might have an extra multigame dongle (runs 5 games) as well. If your computer has never been upgraded (new video card and more RAM) then it wont run the multigame software.

You sure your dongle is serial and not parallel? I've never seen a BH with a serial dongle.

Im pretty sure that Desert War is actually Beach Head 2003. If you did the full install (new OS disk and game disk) then your Beach Head 2000 files are gone. Your going to need the OS restore CD and the Beach Head 2000 disk in order to get it back to working order.

What computer do you have? White DFI PC or the black Graphite PC? Also, which cabinet do you have?

Matt,

I attached 2 pics.

You are correct on the parallel dongle. It is indeed parallel. The game disc I installed while the machine was in the attract mode was BH 2003 desert war (part # 050-0010-01 REV D). I did not install the OS disc but I have that also part # 050-019-01 rev a. I only installed the desert war disc after the system rebooted and now it wants the missing dongle. :(

I have the white DFI case!

If I navigate through XP and look in windows explorer I can see the BH2k folder and the BH2000_shell folder. all attract videos and images are there. but of course I am not sure if other files are now missing. When the system boots watch dog opens and it takes you to the missing dongle screen with contact info for global vr.

Also there is an .exe file in the BH2k folder that loads the game but no buttons work only esc on the keyboard? in case this helps at all.

Thanks,

Sounds to me like bast case scenario would be to wipe the drive and reload BH2k only. Or, you may be able to go into test mode and disable BH2003 in order to get 2k to boot again.

You have a Votek Pup so none of the software I have will work. You need to contact your closest Global VR distributor for the game disc.

Matt, or anyone else out there.

I was placing the keyboard back inside the case and I ever so lightly taped the board sticking out of the back of the monitor....now no picture. Where do I start to figure out what I did?

Is this the board handing off of the neck of the tube? If so, you may be able to reseat it. If it is another board, which one. You should look over the board to ensure you didn't crack it or the neck of the tube. It just pushes on straight and there are alignment pins to keep you from putting it on incorrectly.

Thanks I just pushed it on a little more still nothing. it looked a little crooked so I gave it a small twist and we are back in business. Does that entire board pull straight off the back of the tube? For future reference if the tube car cracked is it fixable or is it time for a new monitor?

If the tube is cracked it will not power on correctly. Basicly you will have your own little light show inside the neck.

If twisting it helped resolve the problem you may have some bent pins coming out of the CRT neck. No big deal for now but if you ever have to remove the neckboard you need to be very careful when reinstalling it.
