Ok Just picked up a non working Battlezone. Game is set on free play. It turns on both pcb board leds light. tested 5v on both boards good. start button lights but does not blink. game does not play blind.

Monitor has neck glow. bright dot in center of screen. spot killer light on. fuse f600 was blown. replaced. did not blow fuse again, but did not change symtoms. I removed the deflection board from the 19v2000 all other fuses are good and nothing else looks burnt. I have a working Battlezone im going to test game boards in that tomorrow to rule out the main pcb's.

The usual vector stuff...

Resolder all pins on all molex plugs on deflection board

Check all fuses in power brick

Double-check the two big resistors on deflection board
(better to check while monitor is on - voltage should be somewhat even between the two. if one reads significantly different than the other - then one could be bad. You can even replace them with heavy wire instead of resistors (yes its in the vector faq, but bob roberts carries them too.) - The reason I check to check voltage instead of resistance is because I had a 19v2000 where both resistors seemed to read ok, but one was more or less open.

Bob Roberts has a deluxe kit for the vectors that includes the transistors if you need them, but I'll be a resolder job will bring it back to life if you already have a dot.

Have fun!

Sounds like more than just one problem. Reseat the interboard connector, and the edge connectors and see what you get. Verify that the A/R II is putting out the proper voltages. Test the 19V2000 in one of your other machines that has a 19V2000. (Your Asteroids or Asteroids Deluxe IIRC)

did not have alot of time to look at this tonight. I put in a extra AR board that i know is good, and got the same thing. reconnected board connectors. Im going to try the boards in my working battlezone tomorrow.

I have tracked the problem to the boards. everything else in the machine works perfect with a different boardset.

I meter +5 on both boards. both of the red leds light up. Nothing looks burnt on either board. tried a different interconnect cable.

turn on machine. spot killer comes on red start button comes on, but does not blink. will not play blind.

Is this a issue that can be solved with the highscore kit ArcRevival talked about???

I tried the high score save kit on mine when I had a graphics issue and nothing changed. The problem wasn't the monitor either, I'm still working on trying to figure it out.

Knowing that you have a working boardset... Mix and Match time. Mark both boards of one set with a piece of masking tape or something. Swap the Aux boards, then test both sets and see what you get.

Ok first swap was my good AUX board with the other main pbc. turned it on coin counter clicked 3 times??? tried it twice coin counter both times?? then had the same non working symtoms.

then I tried the other AUX board with my known good PCB. works perfect. its in there running for about a half hour now.

So it looks like it is the main PCB. not sure why the coin counter did that.
