I need to adjust my BZ screen down a bit, because the video is so high up that it's cutting off the scores and the radar.

Can someone tell me where the pot is on the board that moves the video DOWN on the Y-axis? I don't have the game or the manual in frt of me at the moment.

Thanks!

There is no position adjustment on BZ, you'll need to adjust the size down to compensate or tilt the deflection coil on the tube a bit to move the whole picture down.

The weird thing is the sizing was fine when I shipped out the boards. I'll try shrinking the size down and see what happens.

You can add a few components to the BZ boards to have XY centering adjustments. Atari engineered them into the PCB, but never populated them(probably to save on costs).

Wish you were coming to our local KLOV gathering this weekend!!

The B&W X/Y monitors have centering tabs on the yoke. The instructions on how to adjust the position of the picture is in the monitor manual. Then you can use the size pots on the board to make it fit the screen properly...

Now I can't help but wonder if I bumped these last night. I had a snake light hanging from the guard around the monitor while I reinstalled the board. Any chance they are loose enough that the snake light could have bumped them?

lol... silly people... heres where you adjust it....

They are labled Xsize, Ysize, Xbip, Ybip

the xsize and y size should help you.... also after you make that adjustment, if you need to move it a HAIR, unscrew the 4 bolt from monitor and move it around, then tighten them..thats wht i did!!!

I had to adjust both of the board sets i own... When i got these, they were not centerd and small!@!!

I found these on the board last night and used the Ysize to shrink the screen so that the score, high score, enemy in range, radar and enemy left/right/behind are now in their appropriate places on the screen height-wise. However, the the images are about 1" too far to the right. I noticed on the PCB board that there are 3 silver solder-like dots that say "Y Center", and I'm thinking that's what I need to adjust next. However, what exactly do you do to "adjust" these dots? Do you use a ball-point pen? Paper clip? In fear of having an inside-the-cab light show, I figured I better ask the Council here first!

Note: I did also check the Atari "BOOK" and did not see this in there. I could have missed it though.

Those silver like dots ARE solder pads. Those are the locations that you can solder pots to if you want to adjust the centering as mentioned above a couple posts.

Does anyone know what size pots need to go there? I might want to do the same... I've adjusted and re-adjusted and my cab is always off by about 1/8" or so... just enough to annoy me.

Crap. I guess that means my only other option is to move the blasted yoke like Luckyman posted.

And what is the flippin' ybip for anyway? I moved it both ways and noticed no change. Is it like the "any" key?

you dont want to move the BIP they adjust the X and y lines of the tanks and blocks and triangles.. If you move them , your gonna have to go into test mode to see the GRID and fix it!!!

dont move the yoke... Just unbolt the monitor and move it around to make the adjustment thern tighten the bolts.. You have some play with them!!!

It's possible. Sometimes they move easily, and sometimes they are difficult to move - just like centering rings on color monitors.

The tabs are on the side of the yoke closest to the tube. They're hard to see, so turn the power off, get a flashlight, and find them. There is a groove on the back side of the yoke plastic, and you should see two metal tabs - one for vertical and one for horizontal. rotate them to move the center of your picture...

Since it looked good on my monitor before I shipped the board....I would tend to agree you need to make a monitor adjustment or add the centering circuitry.

It's easy enough to move the centering tabs on the monitor neck. You can have it centered in under 5 mins with a friend to tell you if you are going the right way.

It's the silver tabs.

Lucky, your pic seems to show a board that doesn't have centering pots. Size and Center 2 different things.

There is optional circuitry (shown on the schematic) for centering capability. I have not come across a board with this feature, but surely there are some out there. The 4 pots on the board are for XY size and alignment (not position).

Thanks guys I just got to reading this. I will see if I can get to this during the week and provide an update. It's really not a "critical" thing, you just want it to look right for when others come to play it, know what I mean?
