I was looking at a battlezone today that the monitor went out on and the guy tried to fix it and "missed a ground", damaging something.

I am interested in it as a project. Any idea as to a rough price?

Unless he completely destroyed the monitor (broke the tube or something), they are not bad to repair. BZ is one of those games that seems to be worth more as parts than whole :(
Depending on the condition, I'd say 150-250.
cheers

I got mine for 300.00 and it was almost mint if you like the game its pretty fun to play
but it is worth more as parts

I was just looking at the manual, and it looks like he is missing the glass. Is that just plain glass or is it half silvered?

Overall, it looks to be in very good shape, teh plastic is not scratched up, the centering grommets are good, the monitor chassis has no visible damage.

It is missing one of the trigger buttons.

It turns out he forgot to clip one of the leads when he put the get well kit in. It is a 19V2000, not a G05. The chassis looked pretty darn simple other than a couple of tubes.

I have an o-scope that can plot X vs Y. Isn't there a way I can hook the boards up to that to check them without the monitor?

I'm not 100% sure about the glass... but I'm pretty sure its just a mirror.
Hook your scope up to the X and Y outputs on the board, put it in XY mode and watch! Unless you have (and hook up) the Z input for the scope, you will see all the retrace lines too, but you can still make out whats what pretty well.

I am fairly sure it is not a full mirror. There is a piece of art behind it that I think is supposed to show through.

It's a half-silvered mirror.

I'd never seen one before -- pretty cool idea on someone's part.

Yep, it's a half-silvered mirror, functionally identical to (and based on the year of manufacture, quite possibly the exact same piece as) the one in Asteroids Deluxe, though I can't confirm that as I don't have an upright Battlezone against which to compare.

Because it's half-silvered, check to make sure it's installed correctly. The shiny (shini*er*) side should be facing the tube. (Otherwise, you'll get a very dim "picture"... sort of like looking at mirrorshades from the wrong side.)

If it's missing, you may be also able to get a glass shop to find one for you, or just wait until someone here parts out a full-sized Battlezone upright.

Does anyone know what the dimensions of the mirror glass is for Battlezone? I have one here, but not sure which game it is for.

A BZ with a monitor issue isn't worth anything. Even working, they usually sell for less than the value of the monitor. "Free" is the right price.
