Was back last August, Finally found one of my grail games.....the happy victory drive/journey home!

IMG_8710.JPGIMG_8711.JPG

Came with an EXTRA populated control panel, an EXTRA Blacklight Backdrop, a BONUS Takeman Power Brick with hardware/labels, and FIVE complete Battlezone Boardsets!!!!

Fixed the problems underneath, all connections burnished and deoxited, new soldered connection.....kept as much original as possible, littlefuse fuse block corrosion cleaned...all connections burnished/polished and deoxited....new quick disconnect where needed(same type as original). Transferred over to takeman panel...all harness and connectors on the brick are burnished and deoxited....only screws I changed out from the original panel are mainly where grounds would be connected. The rest transferred over nicely....This game sat up for a while so YES, a new big blue!

Got some of @mrbill08 's awesome fuse block covers...I went with the black because it's a REALLY good match to the original covers Atari had on the interlocks/power switch...which I'm happy the original covers were included with the game.IMG_8858.JPG

Lots of this type thing all over the harness and connectors...all extracted, burnished and deoxited. New heavy duty power switch, original just crumbled:

Control Panel:
Pretty bad:

Five minutes into sanding this I said fuck it, and took it to have it blasted...would better remove paint from the hinge than sanding every could:

Got Olly's CPO from arcadeartshop.com, came out very nice, gave the CP a few coats of satin black and CPO went on nicely....great texture on this CPO as well...alignment was perfect with plenty of overhang to cover the entire panel:

With the CPO applied, and the extra control panel and 2 sets of control panel parts available...I have multiple sets of joysticks/hardware/buttons and everything to get a best of all and get a perfect set of joysticks(no cracks)....and have spare parts for the future! Bought an extra NOS grip to throw in the pot as well....Also, interesting that the wood block on one of the control panels is bare wood and the other is vinyl covered....I went with the vinyl covered one:

Perfect set of joysticks(best of)and refurbed...used one of @ArcadeJason replacement bellows on the right stick, and the stock bellow was still good on the left stick!....AJ's bellow has a very nice feel!....All joystick metal parts de-rusted and polished...all parts lubricated with plastic safe superlube according to the Atari Manual....Perfect feeling/condition/refurbed joysticks! Beautiful control panel ready to rock, and of course all carriage bolts sanded and repainted satin blackIMG_9310.JPGIMG_9305.JPG

After testing, the right joystick quick disconnects had to be reversed(reversed control) as well as the firing button(was always firing)....but looks the same...another shot of the complete CP:

Where did you get the stickers for your power brick!? :)

Looking great!
They came with the takeman panel for each version of the brick you have, also the hardware....I kept as much as the original hardware as possible all except for the two grounding screws that attach the line filter and the holder for the big cap.....everything else transferred over. Thanks man!!!

Recapped, including filter caps.., parts came from @security0001 ...reflowed,...burnished and deoxited all connectors/fuse holders...repaired/replaced missing resistors.....frame mounted transistors were fine....cleaned off the thermal paste, chunked the micas and installed silpads instead. Also, corrosion neutralized:

Very little burn on this monitor:

Nice job. Welcome to the BZ Owner Appreciation Club.

Isn't it amazing how Atari created such awesome 3D shapes with just a bunch of lines. :)

I'll keep my BZ in my collection ... FOREVER.
Much appreciated VC, hell yes....yes indeed, LOVE this MF too :rock:

Gels...the Green Gel was busted....got a replacement from stagelightingstore.com....correct color.....Roscolux Kelly Green #94...kept the original red gel, just needed to be cleaned...that MAX super clear tape is awesome...holds GREAT but is movable since it's so thick.....holds tight but is easy to move and adjust if necessary:

Used the original green gel as a template to get the exact size, attached to tube exactly how is was(marked the original placement, which IMO was moved sometime in it's life...more on that later:
