Hi Guys

I have a BZ in pretty poor condition

I am from Australia, so we don't have many Vector games to choose from here, so I will put the effort in to resurrect it.

Ok here's the thing, I have a working Asteroids Machine with the exact Monitor in each (LAI monitors and Chassis')
I am wondering if anyone knows how to make a test lead so I can run the BZ on the Asteroids Monitor. (The BZ screen is still dead) despite a chassis repair by a vector repairer in Australia.

I imagine only a few wires need to be run between the cabs to do it. (While disconnecting others??)
Has anyone ever done this before?

Thanks

Regards Dez

I have an asteroids deluxe that I do the same thing with. On my cab I am able to put the cabs side by side and plug the monitor right into the BZ. In fact, I have to do that again as my battlezone didnt like the 700 mile move I made a couple months ago.
Depending on the harness length, you SHOULD be able to plug it right in. That is unless things are different with the machines down under.

Thanks for the reply, the leads are too short for that on the LAI Model. It is different, in that the Chassis is one piece, rather than a seperate HV Unit.

I have one of each of the Atari monitors (G05-802 and V2000) which are unknown.

I want to test components to sort all good parts from the bad. So maybe I need to make extension harnesses so I can bench test the CRT's without removing the parts from the Working Asteroids Machine

I think Bob roberts sells adapters you might have to modify one, but it might work.

Thanks I will have a look there :)

Im reading thru this all again trying to understand exactly what you are trying to do. You have 2 monitors that are the same? The have they same connectors but the wires are not long enough to plug into each other with the machines backed up against each other?

That is what I understood him to say. However you will note that these are LAI monitors which are completely different animals from the US G05-801/802 and V2000. I would suggest making an extender harness for the BZ output to plug into the Asteroids input. Just about every connector is available from Bob Roberts or else you can cannibalize some old harnesses for the connectors you need. The biggest problem then is getting the correct pins. I would assume an electronics shop in your part of the world would have those.

Thanks guys

But is there an easier way to do it, rather than extending every monitor socket?

IE can I feed the signal from the BZ straight into the Working Asteroids Monitor

If so, would that be from a single plug?

If so, anyone know which plug it is on the harness which has the signals?

G05-802 and WG 19V2000 are cross compatible... plug-n-play. A G05-801 needs an adapter you can get from Bob Roberts.
