Battlezone Model Kit

And playing with this model is still more fun than actually playing BattleZone.

BZ is just a WW1 Tank simulator. Really, it seems to have the same performance characteristics.

If that's your thing then by all means.

BZ will never find a home in my house. I never liked it as a kid and don;t care for it now ... so no ... Mr grumpy pants it's not my thing.

I think the mods should ban anyone who doesn't like BZ.

I know. It's like not liking DK or SI or even SW. But the fact remains.

Is there a mod you can make to make it play faster? Gotta be something that can make that game fun. Someone has to be able to hack the code to speed up the tanks and reload time while keeping the bullets going the same speed. Otherwise you could just change the crystal. Course the bullets are too dang slow too. Maybe a 15% overall speed up would be good.

Does a BZ board have the same clock crystal that Asteroids does? I may be onto something here.

See, that's my problem with the game. It just plays too slow.

You guys just suck and can't get far enough for the challenge. :)

Super tanks kick ass... and the guided missiles get brutal after they stop coming direct at you from the front. Trust me... you don't want either of those two to be sped up...at all.

Love Battlezone, think that would be a neat kit to get.... Having said that, MPC knocked off a lot of "fad" kits like that back in the day using the same van mold for all of them and just changing the decals and maybe adding a distinctive piece.

Star Wars was a big one

I wonder how many Atari vans there are? Like Maybe an Asteroids version and a Tempest version....

I may have to try and make a scratch one from a Star Wars van.

(Put that idea in the queue right behind the Hallmark Pac Man remodel.)

I think part of the problem is that you actually have to play this game to understand. Don't play this on MAME. Do not just play a couple of games at a friends house. Play the upright periscope version and learn the controls. This really is a fun game if you take the time.

The game was groundbreaking when it was released 30 years ago. There's no denying that.
