I picked up a bz today.

monitor seems like the picture is too big also flakey. I have tried to adjust the xy. (the 4 adjusters on the game board) nothing seems to help.

It seems my radar and enemys are not showing too. This may be a board problem..

Also I need to replace the left joystick bellow. anyone have one forsale.? any links on replacement ones?

thanks
guys

Picture too big; commonly called "blooming." Usually caused by a bad HV diode; the giant one inline with the wire to the 2nd anode. I only know of 2 sources for them, Arcadeshop and arcadechips.com. Discharge the CRT before messing with the HV unit.

Not sure what "flakey" means. Pics would help. But it sounds like it could be bad/dirty/old pots on the monitor deflection board. Might also need to have the BIP pots adjusted on the game PCB, but it sounds like you already tried that. Could also be bad RAM. Hard to guess w/o seeing it.

Radar and enemy not showing; I assume the blocks & pyramids are also absent. If so, that's an issue with the aux board. Check the interconnect wires (the connector between the two PCBs) and reflow the solder at the headers on both ends of it.

Do you get any errors/beeps/messages in test mode? Test mode is your friend.

For bellows, if you can find a NOS, great. Repros are sold here: http://www.wizzesworkshop.com/cart/product.asp?intProdID=19
I have a pair of wizzes in mine, and they work fine.

A big thank you

Got my battle zone fixed. reflowed some pins, and reseated some chips.

bingo. all working.

now, I just have to order 1 joystick bellows.

and fix the monitor.

has the blooming issue, and the center is a bit dark.

I will start with the hv diod, and see if that fixes the bloom.

not sure on the darkness on the center, monitor does not see to get very bright. may need rebuild.

thanks again.
