I have an upright battlezone with graphics issues. While playing the game, the image of the mountains will intermittently appear along the bottom of the screen where it says atari as the monitor image quivers. It happens during attract mode as well. All connections have been reflowed an cleaned, I tried another monitor(working perfectly)and same thing. I did notice that 4 of the large chips on the math board was very hot to the touch. All voltages are correct. Any ideas where to start? Board adjustments does not change the problem.

Here's an easy thing to do... go into test mode and see what that tells you. I had a graphic glitch/reset issue on a BZ I was fixing and it turned out to be a corrupt ROM.

Your test screen should look something like this...

See the "1 FF" to the middle-left of the screen? That's an error code. Do yours and see what you get.

I had random graphics like that except mine also reset from time to time. You don't happen to have access to an EPROM burner to check the ROMs do you?

I'd start there and also the ROM sockets like Dez mentioned.

Don't know. I have reseated everything at least twice, and looked for bad connections. Nothing seems to change. The game will play, but it is annoying obviously. Nothing wrong with the sound though.

I do not have access to a burner. Where could I get a set of roms burned at? Would this route be the most feasible or a socket change or both ?

Sockets are cheap, but tricky to do, unless your very good at soldering (or do you call it sodering in the US?)

Still need to be done imo

I had my Asteroids board repaired in the US many years ago, could be any component playing up, some things are best left to the experts.

I have tackled socket replacements on Pacman Boards, (With an electronics background in Air Force) and it is easy to burn the board still and damage it.

Wish you were closer 'cause I'd check them for you. And I only have a couple 2716 EPROMs so I'm no good for burning a set.
