>sigh<

I fired up Battlezone today to be greeted with ... a blank screen.

I can play blind but on screen... nothing.

A cursory look shows a LED on the G05 deflection board. My guess is that is the spot killer... are there any other LED on the board that is SUPPOSED to remain lit?

Any quick way to determine if the problem lies in my monitor chassis or the boardset? I am getting power as the neck glows...

LED on deflection board comes on and goes off right away being normal, stay's on something not right, gameboard led stay's on is good, check the connector pins and reflow, helped me on these in the past.

Which model? 801 or 802?

802:
1. check the fuses
2. test R100 & R101 for open if field mod has not been done
3. test DB100

Alright...

There are not R100 or R101 so I assume th efield mod HAS been done...

The fuses check out fine.

DB100 is has less than 40 hours on it total as I replaced it the last time the monitor went out. That said... I forgot how to test it... instructions?

BTW: When i pulled the monitor out and watched it run the spot killer runs solid except for when it SOUNDS like the Battlezone logo is on screen ... you can hear the data sounds via the speaker slightly and when it slows down like it does when the title comes on screen I notice the spot killer LED will blink intermittently... no "pattern" or anything... it will just twinkle out and in a bit.

Also, I noted that the neck gets REAL BRIGHT when first powering up only to dim down to the normal glow.... is that normal?

No love? I suppose I'll re-flow the headers and then say a prayer to the vector gods in the sky... as I plug her back in...

Welp... turns out it wasn't the monitor. After re-flowing all the connectors I wired the monitor back up... turned it on... same issue. I tapped on various connectors... no go... I then turned to the PCB. Once I got to the bottom PCB's interconnect, when i tapped the monitor fired up... then went out. After a re-flow of both headers I am still having issues (it will come on then go out, etc...) which leaves one thing... the interconnect.

I just ordered a new one.

:)

Don't you have an Asteroids Deluxe? Easy way to narrow it down is to plug the AD monitor into your BZ harness. That will tell you right away if it's the monitor or PCB.

I use my BZ cab to test 19v2000's and G05-802's when I need to confirm a monitor issue. It sucks moving cabs around, but it quickly narrows down the diagnosis process. I really need to get one of those monitor extension cables to make it an easier task.

Yeah... I need one of those cables too because getting to the AD is a real PITA...

:D

I am all out of the Vector monitor extension sets. I think Spaeth still has some of the ones he has made.
