battlezone deal

A Seattle Metro Arcade Collector (SMAC) member sold his Battlezone for $600 the same day it was listed last month, maybe it's just your area? I'd be all over that.

Things are moving slow around here for sure, but the good games don't sell cheap.

Wow, the parts are worth so much more than $100...

I paid $200 for my non working Battlezone and thought it was a good deal..

i think people are much more likely to stay away from non-working Battlezones than other non-working games

Word. I think the longest my Battlezone has stayed working is maybe 30 minutes. One thing after another. I forget what I paid for it but it was over $300. At least the boards worked and it has the high score kit, and the controls were solid. That interconnect cable had to be replaced and the HV has a problem. Supposedly that HS kit can bypass some of the board issues.

There is a trick to the game that allows you to play indefinitely. I will admit that I have not been able to do it yet, but of course I have never been able to get the game to work long enough to get that good at it. You basically run in reverse when tanks appear and play the angles with the tanks so their shots never hit you and you and can slowly get them in your sights and shoot them almost every time. The buzz bombs follow a pattern but you have to be able to figure out where in the pattern the buzz bomb is when it comes down, and once you have determined where in the pattern it is, you can figure out where it is going to go and you can shoot it almost every time.

Yeah, my Battlezone had the usual Atari problems: ARII board, burnt connector pins. Plus my interconnect cable needed to be fixed. Then my monitor had more cracked solder joints than good ones. The controls where broken, fire button did not work, the centering bellows did not work.

But it's working NOW, I haven't gotten the High Score kit for it yet, it's on my list. I'm interested to see if anyone plays it at my next party.

Anyone notice that the guy also has a Sea Wolf? It's the very far edge of one of the pictures.

There are only a handful of games that I would like to own at this point, and that's one of them.

The seller is Jason, he is on our chats on Coinopspace all the time. He has had many a people flake out on him when it comes to purchasing these two machines.

Interesting that one has the mysterious holes on the side and the other does not. I'd be all over this deal if I was anywhere near him.

I started with a $300 non-working Battlezone and now I have a $700 or so semi-working Battlezone. Wee! My nemesis! It won't leave my gameroom until it's 100%. I suspect I'll be buried in it.
