I recently completed a Battlezone cabaret restore and thought I'd share a few before/after pics:

Did BZ cabarets really ship from the factory with that side art? (yes, the Atari films exist, but did they have the balls to install it?) LOL

dang, that thing appears to be about 3' tall in your pictures (if that tall), looks great, good work

It is rather phallic isn't it? Someone more knowledgeable than me can chime in here, but I think the Atari cabarets were shipped without the artwork, but operators could mail in and request the art - but of course few did. I might be wrong, but I think the story goes something like that.

In your restore process you refer to soaking the wiring in a mix of water and detergent. Are you referring to dish detergent or laundry detergent? (or something else?)

Frankly whatever's to hand. Any household detergent gets the job done. I've used the equivalent of your Tide pods before now, or Fairy Liquid, which is a dish detergent.

Chuck the loom into a bucket of boiling hot water with the detergent to soak for a few hours. Once the water has cooled down, maybe give the loom a wipe with a sponge, or use a brush after to get any remaining stubborn muck off. Rinse the detergent off in a sink. Leave to dry overnight, and Bob's your uncle.

The last blog post says the boards are still in for repair. Have you gotten them back yet?
