Just got a battlezone yesterday. All ac and dc voltages are correct. When powered on, the start button stays lit and there is a bright dot in the center of the monitor. Self test mode appears to do nothing. Anyone have any ideas?
Update:After reseating all chips and reflowing aux board connections game plays. However, there is still a bright dot in the center of the monitor with lines splintering out, the screen image will shake off and on and the horzontal sides have a bright line like its folded, but game has full screen image. Anyone have some input on this issue? Game was not working when I got it.
Sounds like your seeing the retrace lines of the game. You have brightness and contrast on the deflection board on the monitor. And your picture size adjustments are on the main PCB.
Adjust brightness and contrast until you don't see the retrace lines anymore. Retrace lines appear to be lighter in brightness, you want them to just disappear with your adjustment.
Remeber the monitor is putting out high voltage, watch were you put your hands in the monitor.
I was able to clean up the image a bit, but the dot in the center remains, the picture still quivers with like a double image that comes and goes and when the attract screen says battlezone, the last 2 letters N and E are distorted (kinda looks like the mountain images in the game)
Pull the deflection board out and reflow all the solder on all the connectors on that board. Also reflow the solder for the two big resistors on the board also. While you have the board
out check all the fuses on the board also.
Update:When powered on now I have to push on the cpu chip to get game to work. Now as screen is quivering, the words are alternating in different languages. This Sounds more like a board issue to me?
