I've been running my Battlezone with a blue-black light for a couple weeks while I wait for my ebayed white-black lights to show up. Well, I got the white-black lights a couple days ago and installed one. At first I REALLY REALLY hated the white black light in there.

After a little time... I have gotten a little more accustomed to it... but I think I still prefer the blue-black light. Are we all sure the white-black light is the proper lamp? It's just so... bright and annoying compared to the blue-black light. You can really see where the end of the art work is at the bottom... the screen washes out considerably in contrast to the blue-black light... overall it's just pretty asstastic compared to the blue-black light.

I was told with the blue-black light you couldn't see the background artwork... pffft... you sure can, but it's not "in your face" bright.

Any opinions? I think I am going back to the dark lamp... but I plan on keeping this white BL in for a while longer to see if I get used to it or whatnot.

i have the white one in mine and like it but i havent tried it with a blue one. How much was it ebayed ? was that a better deal than getting it local ? Although you probably arent in downtown Boise too often ?

3 for $9.99 + $6.00 shipping. The guy then emailed me a week after I won it explaining he was out of the state and it would be at least a week more before he could ship but he'd send 4 instead of 3...or I could cancel. I accepted and he actually shipped 5 for the $16.00....

I installed a regular black light tube in my Space Invaders Deluxe and it was ok, but the backdrop was a little too dark. Once I picked up a white one locally, it made a world of difference.

Don't own a battle zone, but if you like the blue BL better, use it. I can say in Space Invaders its much better. In Tron, my artwork is too washed out to matter, but Tron uses both bulbs. In general they use the white bulbs in applications where the eye isn't constantly exposed to the bare bulb. In tron, I think the white bulb goes under the CP where it iluminates the lower half of the player. The blue bulb illuminates the top half of the player where you can see it at all times. Too much UV is hard on the eyes. Least, thats what I heard. But in general, stick with whats original. Anther think to consider is that your inner artwork is faded and washed out. My back art in SI is fairly faded.
