Battle Zone - the new addition - Just a LOOSE WIRE??? and Spiders...

My latest addition. The seller says "It's just a loose wire"..
Isn't that the same as "It's probably just a blown fuse"!?

In the Truck, Man Battle Zone is heavy!

Does anyone else spray for SPIDERS FIRST?? I always spray the bottom before I even remove from the back of my truck! WHAT type of spider is this?
(Besides creepy)

Out of the truck - now to move to the shop.

The seller thinks the shorted wire is HERE!! The back board hits the connector and causes problems. So I will move it in an inch or so.

Now to start finding PARTS for a BattleZone, Suggestions?

Nice! A non-scope version, pretty uncommon to find.

Nice open face.. I just picked one up at the seattle show.. I have the regular version too.. Mine are both working.. If you need to test boards let me know...

Hey thanks Dan. I didn't have to time get into testing it today.
But Ill rebuild the ARII, and look for cold solder joints or problems with the connector.

That spider looks like a black widow, especially judging by the egg cases. If it has an orange colored hourglass shape on the abdomen, that cinches it. Very damn dangerous, my brother nearly died from a bite when he was a kid.

I killed it too fast to look for the hourglass. I hate spiders, which is why I spray the bases of every single game I get with buy spray. That when this spider came running out of its hiding spot. We do have black widows and hobo spiders here in Spokane. I've killed so many hobo spiders over the years..... Hate spiders!

Its not a loose wire or a fuse. The monitor bulb is probably bad. You can get one down at your local Radio Shack. lol.

Good luck man!

BZ is a cool game if you can keep it running for more than a day, week, month.
Plenty of info out there.. I suggest buying the high score kit as it will save you from having to replace problematic rom sockets.

Also, replace the interconnect cable that goes between the two pcbs. Lots of issues with the old ones.. Rebuild the ARII, replace the fuse holders, pray!

Also, reflow all the solder behind the header pins, and monitor chassis.. May want to take a look at the HV diode that's in the wire which leads to the suction cup on your tube.. The goo will leak and cause blooming or other monitor issues.

Good luck!

I was wondering who got this. I was at work and was trying to get a hold of my brother to go pick it up. I was looking to get it because i hate the scoped version. Nice
Score!

Totally agree, very nice pick up ! The version without the scope is how the designers wanted it to be.....the scope was a(nother) stupid idea by marketing people....

I love BZ as a game, but I totally hate having to look through the scope, it's too low for me so it makes it very uncomfortable to play....

I've never seen one without scope for real....the ones who made it out here seem al to be with scope...

Agree about the spiders and very happy we don't have dangerous kinds like that over here. It is pretty fitting to find a BW in another vector game though ;);)

Yeah, it was a nice deal ($200).. But it will need ALOT of cleaning and restoration. Probably will have to rebuild the joysticks.

There should be plenty of room for the boards to slide into the can so the edge connector does not get hit by the back door. Also don't forget a new big blue ps cap.

Yes, I moved the boards in more and also replaced the Big Blue from a Bob Roberts Atari power supply kit I had laying around! I need to keep one of those and the Atari AR-II kits on hand!
