Really dumb question here I'm sure.

Anyways, I pulled the battery holder off my fishtales since no settings would hold and it looked pretty toasted.

I got a new holder from a local supplier, standard 3 battery holder. It only has 2 wires coming off of it and old holder had 6 solder connections. Do I need to jump anything ?

I searched and searched, but nothing too clear on this.

No you do not need to jump anything. Solder the positive lead to the upper right + solder pad on the CPU and solder the negative lead to the lower left - Solder pad.

Orient the CPU as if it were in the game to make sure your leads are long enough for where you want to mount the holder.

Perfect, thanks! Worked like a charm

p.s - the guy at radioshit told me I was getting speaking wire when I was grabbing the wire for this... lol

That is only an issue where the original batteries were rechargeable by the board.

In WPC that is not the case - no diode is needed, although if it is there, it can't hurt, but it does reduce the voltage slightly in circuit.

I think a diode needs to be in there to keep the batteries from charging. They will explode.

I always do it like this http://www.pinballnews.com/learn/battery.html

Here's a good video how-to that goes over all the details of adding a remote battery pack to WPC games:

Thanks everyone! So far no explosion and all is well :)

The guy also was confused when I asked him where the solder sucker/desolder tool was. He stated removing soldering made nosense....:D
