I have some arcade games but I want a pinball. Going to look at a Batman Data East tomorrow. Anything I need to check out to make sure it is in good working order?
How difficult is it to clean the playing field? What is a good price to pay for this game? What is the value?
Thanks for trhe help!

Mike the most important part (to me) is the playfield condition. Batman playfield are notorious for wear spots. It depends if this bothers you or not...

I would say around 1k'ish + or - depending on the playfield....

I did look at it briefly yesterday and it look ok at first glance but when I looked at it closer there were brighter areas and duller areas where the ball moves around. Is this polishable or reconditionable?

To a certain degree it can be rejeuvenated. I used Treasure Cove polishing kit on a pin with some fairly heavy trail wear and it really did a nice job buffing it mostly out not to mention the pf shined like glass when I was done. But this type of cleaning is abrasive and should be needed once in a home environment. Really good for when you get a pin that has been badly neglected and has ground in dirt.

The kit will also shine up dulled mylar as well.

Thanks for the info Deadly. You or anyone else have other things that I need to check when I go see this pin. I hate buying things that break a week later and I need to dump more money into it.

That particluar title didn't really have any "gotchas" to it.
The auto shooter (auto plunger) sees a fair bit of action so I'd assume that'll need freshening up - but other than that just check the basics such as looking for battery corrosion/ acid on any of the boards. Look at the molex connectors and if they are browned/burned looking they'll need replaced. Just the basics in all pins. Also cracked ramps are becomming more common with age. Ramps for that title are fairly hard to come by so keep that in mind.

Glad to see people starting to give DE games some love. They really made some awesome titles.

Make sure the DMD is good. you could spend a good amount on a replacement if it is shot. I would turn the game off and talk for a while and then turn it back on to see if there is any out gassing. If the game has been left on for awhile before you get there it might not show up. Look for fading of the dots in areas of the DMD. Those smaller DMDs are pricey and getting harder to find. DE ramps are also getting hard to find. If they have cracks or are broken adjust the price. Still looking for a WWF plastic ramp if anyone has one (for the hundredth time). Good luck with the sale.
