How much is a project arcade worth? Say if it were complete, but had small issues with maybe fatigued art, and dirty, but everything is there and with little $ would be up and running?

Just trying to get a feel for if I see things on Craigslist if I should grab it up 'just cause'.

Right now my thoughts are for a regular game (not Ms. Pacman or any other instant price hikers), $50 for semi complete with potential project cab with good parts, and $100 for complete with potentially minor issues and cosmetic potential.

Does this seem right?

What got me thinking is a guy has an Arkanoid cab that is complete, just has minor issues, and wants $100, My first thought was I feel like grabbing it as it seems like it could be a deal, but then I'm thinking, do I want an Arkanoid??

What do you guys think?

In this particular case,I would check to see what the cab was originally. Arkanoid was a kit that was used to convert other games. If the cab was originally a Joust, Berzerk, Scramble, or something else desirable, then it might be worth $100 broken if the cab is in good shape (no broken corners or water damage). If it works, then $100 is very reasonable.

Otherwise, if it looks good, offer him $75....

Arkanoid rocks. One day i hope to own one. for a hundred bucks why not spin the wheel and give it a try. you can always re sell it if you hate it

It's originally a Dig-Dug cab with reasonable art on the side. It's good enough to call it good as a running game if I got the other components for it to bring it back. He thinks it's got a bad power supply, and other than that it's ok as far as Arkanoid goes.

Well, I'm going today to check her out. I'll let you guys know what happens. I actually had dreams about buying used arcade cabs last night haha. It could be thought of as a nightmare cause after I bought them they were missing and couldn't find em!

decent cab with a working monitor up to a hundred. Ive been buying several complete nonworking games lately from $25-$75. Course, I cant touch the popular game cabs anywhere near that

Funny this thread comes up, made me check CL locally and someone's apparently got a working one sitting on the curb about 10 min from here. They've got a multi-cocktail as the picture, it's probably gone by now but I might swing through when I go run errands in a bit just in case. :) For minor cosmetic issues, I'd say it'd be worth 100, especially if you've got a free afternoon and it's close.

Well I bought it for $75. He claimed that it just needed a power supply, but when I got it home I re-secured the harness to the power supply to see if it was loose, and pow, there it is, beautiful screen and music of Arkanoid 2!!! I was so excited to see that it was in running order and very nice Dig Dug side art too! Looking on the inside, it's a very nice conversion job. I forgot how much I like Arkanoid, and found myself playing it for a while when I got it up and running. Here are some shots of it.
