Hi my sharpshooter cabinet has bars running up and down on the left side of the screen and there is what appears to be a lava lamp on the left side of the screen that waves in and out. What can I do to fix this?

first we need to know what chassis it is.
take some picks if you don't know.

first i would start with a cap kit that usually cures the jail bars look on any monitor.

with out knowing the exact model of each chassis.

the only thing you can do is cap both of them and hope for the best.

by the looks of it they are K7000's and a cap kit and some adjustment will fix both of your problems.

but cap them first your issues seem to be caps.

take some picks of the monitor chassis if you want more accurate help.

holy shit, you're that grabmygoobers guy zenomorp talked about!

:D

a picture of the actual chassis would've been helpful...

yea if it's good things, that is me, if bad it was another grab my goobers. I will try and get a picture of the chassis, it's just I have to remove a bunch of stripped screws to get the back off.

Yes- cap kit. Somebody smarter could tell you exactly which cap is causing that lava-lamp thing.

The other monitor may have some vertical linearity issues at the top. Put on a grid test screen and see if the lines are spaced out more at the top.

replace them all you already have the chassis out. the caps are all failing and just replacing one will result in pulling the chassis and doing more work again. rather than doing it once and done.

if they're k7000's like i suspect the need a total rebuild and re-flow to look they're best. if not your just asking for more work very soon if you only replace just one.

I'm gonna be that guy and ask a super silly question.... does it do that when the mk2 cab next to it is powered off (that is the cabinet with (4) pc fans in it right?)?

well it's back down to two small fans again but you bring up a good point. I will try moving it away from MK2 and see if it still does it. I thought these things were supposed to be electromagnetically shielded so they could be placed next to each other without any issues.
