Barn find Vectorbeam Warrior UPDATE : It's alive ! It's ALIVE !

I have had a few people asking me what i want for it, what i think its worth etc. Not planning on parting it out, but if i were to part it, I would say that the motherboard being clean, rare and working, is worth 300 to 350, the sound board at least 125-150, the monitor at least 125-150, that still leaves the power supply, control panel, bezel and marquee, that are actually in decent condition, plus the inner art pieces. I would say this game would bring in 500 to 600 if parted out, and that is I think what it would take for me to sell it whole, otherwise i will probably rebuild it myself and then possibly sell it. Although by the time i put that much energy into it, it will most likely end up in the game room ;) Anyone else have an opinion on the value of this game, chime in.

Didn't prOk restore one with a trashed cabinet that he had to rebuild? Maybe it wasn't Warrior, but seems like it was that or one of the other old Cinemtronics games. I say restore it yourself. You could certainly do the game justice. Even though the cab is trashed, just seems wrong you parting out a game. ;)

Well, I have $800 in my Armor Attack, so I'd up the value of Warrior to a few hundred above that.

But come on Dave, I've read about worse projects that you've taken on, like the Centipede mini. This Warrior would be perfect next to your Armor Attack, and I know you have the skills and equipment to do a proper restore. If I was closer, I'd take it on myself.

If you wanted, this could easily be the centerpiece of your collection, and you know it. Don't wimp out on a very rare opportunity to bring this classic rare vector to prime shape. You owe it to your collection.

Don't have time right now? Put it in the corner in your garage. If you sell it, you will regret it later. And what a cool story to tell people when it's fixed up!

Carefully peel the lamenent with the side art off of the cab. Use an exacto knife to trace around the original sticker. Use a spray adhesive on the back and apply it to Warrior's new cab.

Ya, I am leaning more and more towards doing it myself. And that is exactly what i was telling Dan about the side art, i think it could work. I was hoping to sell this game before getting attached to it.. its almost too late for that now. This game was pretty much what motivated me to want to clean out that barn in the first place. Thanks for the input.

I think the only way i would ever part this out, is if i knew for a fact that there were collectors that really needed almost every specific piece from it, and nothing would be wasted. But right now I plan on rebuilding it myself or selling it whole.

Good you should do it. If I am ever up where you are, I'd like to give it a go once it's done.

Per the joysticks, I would sand down the shaft rust with sandpaper or a wire wheel. Once that's done, I have had good looking results with Rustoleum hammered textured black glossy paint. It looks great and feels great. I've used it on both my Xybot's shafts, my Spy Hunter grips, and my Armor Attack coin bucket.

My Centipede and Xybots came from a barn also!

Stop by anytime. I was thinking of taking the joysticks to a shop and having them coated somehow, not chromed, but whatever they could do to make them look new, and if that isnt possible, then powder coating them.

Restore it!!! Can't say I'm a fan of the game but if one like that fell in my lap I would have to restore it. Hell if I lived near you I'd restore it for you just to do it.

I was hoping to sell this to someone that had a real love for this game before I got too attached, but I think it's too late now. I keep walking out to the garage and looking at this poor thing and planning my strategy to make it whole again. I will try and do it justice.

Awesome! I can't wait to see it working in a better cabinet, it's a pretty cool game. The one time I played it I couldn't see the playfield very well and kept falling into the holes, but it's still cool :D

You should cut the artwork parts of the cabinet out and put them in new sides. Shouldn't be that difficult only time consuming. As for the missing part of the cp overlay it seem to be just a black corner. Seems like you could cut a black piece for it and make it look pretty decent. I say restore it.

*applause*

Even in that condition that cab is still nicer than any MAME cab i have seen! haha I sure hope you restore that and document it with some photo's and video's i think you have something very rare and special. From the sounds of it you have the skill to make this an amazing project.

I remember playing that at the arcades in London bitd. It looked super cool at the time and was a great head to head game. Such a cool looking cab too. Hope you enjoy it.

I'm glad this is the direction you decided to go with it. You are definitely the right person to bring this rare game back to life. I'll be happy to help if you need it, and I promise not to put my knee through the side of it anymore. :001_ssuprised:

It kind of reminds me of Swashbuckler for the Apple IIe that i played as a kid in the 70's

That is awesome, looking forward to seeing what you do with it.... I'd love to restore a Warrior.

Document the hell out of this restoration, please!
