Barn find Vectorbeam Warrior UPDATE : It's alive ! It's ALIVE !

You can add Vectorbeam Warrior to the list of things that come back from the grave on Halloween. Today Dan ( Hatrick) stopped by as I was cleaning up the Warrior and getting ready to plug it in. I cleaned out most of the spider webs , we removed the board that has the pcb's and PS on it and set it up behind the game and plugged it all back in,stood back and powered it up. The red light on the MB stayed on. After adjusting voltages and reseating everything that was socketed on the MB, we have a fully working Vectorbeam Warrior ! We even played a couple games. I did a little cleaning on it and took some pics. This game will be for sale. Priority will go to someone with the skillset and desire to rebuild it. I will triage the game a little more, get more pics and then put it up for sale. Amazing after sitting outside for 15-20 years it still works. The motherboard and sound board both are very clean as they face downward when they are in the game and nothing was able to collect on them . There will be more on my blog when i get a chance to post it. If you missed this story originally, you can read about it here :

The rear corner is blown out :

The top is a complete loss:

The side art decals on each side are actually pretty good:

This pic of the front speaks for itself:

I'd take this if I didn't have more projects than I can handle already. Jow and I played this game at CAX and thought it was the best ever.

It's cool that it works, but man... that thing is a mess!! You would have to rebuild the cab from scratch, no?

pr0k has one of these. It seems really cool.

Wow, I totally forgot about this game until I saw the pics. That is SOOO awesome! I do remember that i totally sucked at it.

i can see where the game could actually be kinda fun. I think the only part of this cabinet that could be used might be the front. Both sides, the top and the bottom are all beyond repair. There was even a manual and schematics in the bottom of the game. Some pieces of the inside art are decent, some arent, the mirror glass looks ok, the front bezel is decent with some of the black missing. Someone would have to make a whole new cabinet for the most part. The side art decals are both in pretty nice shape, but i am not sure if they could be removed without ruining them. One of the joysticks is missing the red button. The picture is really crisp and bright, a lot better than it looks in the photo. The sounds seem to be all there and are good. The CP overlay is cracked and missing a corner and a piece near one of the joysticks. The blacklight even works. Nothing appears to be hacked at all. I am still just simply amazed at how little it took to get this going. Again, the fact that the boards are face down in the game are i think what saved them.

your missing the rear paper part of the artwork(3 fireplaces). I happen to have just that part if someone is going to save it.

Forgot to mention that i have this piece too. We removed it when we first took the back door off when we were still at the barn. It's in a box in my garage . Can't remember what kind of shape it was in though, i will have to look.

That is very amazing and very cool! Who would have thought a Cinematronics vector game would still be working after sitting in a barn for 20 years! I hope it goes to a great home and to someone who can fix it up to its former glory.

Wow. That's amazing.

Given that you got it to fire up, I'm guessing that it was in excellent shape before storage.

If that was a bit closer, I'd give it a shot. I'm not particularly fond of the game, but I do like a challenge! Nice save. Hope it finds a good home.

Wow, thats amazing that it's working.

Shouldn't be too hard to get rid of, since even after a ground up rebuild, it is still going to make money for sure (depending on selling price)

I remember that game from back in the day, even as a kid I was taken in by it, its an absolute work of art.. When you see it all lit up in action its jaw dropping.

Just looked at the KLOV entry for this game and I'm intrigued. I'd like to see what it looks like all lit up. Hopefully someone will take on this project.

Although I'll be honest, I don't know if I've ever seen an actual vector game in action.

I am really torn on what to do with this game. A big part of me wants to build a new cab for it and yet I would love to sell it to someone that really wants this particular game and wants to save it. Shipping it would be tough. The cabinet barely stands up on its own and I am almost positive the monitor would not stay in place and would fall to the bottom of the cabinet or i should say what is left of the bottom , it's that shaky. It would have to be shipped with the monitor removed. The cabinet is really only good for the sideart decals and to trace new sides and make measurements, and the cabinet is so swollen even that would not be really accurate. I could sell it as a kit if no one in driving distance wants it. Last resort would be to part it out :(
