Barn find Donkey Kong as Vs. Hogan's Alley

i'd be buying me some $150 DK's all day long. that's a massive steal for a complete Nintendo cab.

just sell all the non-DK parts and you'll have your cash to restore it to a DK again!

It was 150 USD. I drove to upper New York state to get it.
Considering how long I've looked for one, I couldn't pass it up.

I don't have a clue if it would or not. Yeah, I'll sell all the VS. stuff and start finding DK bits, laminate and so on.

I'll make a thread as I go for sure.

I wonder if that would be a hard sell. I personally wouldn't but any of those parts. I wouldn't take them if they were free.

I suppose some have a fear of these types of things and they wouldn't?

If they were parts I needed, I would really care where they'd been. Barn stored things will have mice, it's happened a million times before this game and likely a million more out there. I will warranty zero mice will arrive with anything sold. Everything will get cleaned up before I take pics. I just need to find a bin to store them in today before I start.

NONE of them? granted some of 'em are all chewed up, but you don't think any of it could/would be salvageable?

Everything is salvageable to someone in this hobby, whether it sits in a box or actually salvaged is a different story. I personally have no interest in salvaging any of it and not just due to mice, though I generally don't buy boxes of mice crap. Just factoring in the PIA factor which is extremely high due to their current state and so that makes me not interested. Others may have different opinions and depending on how it is sold people may have no problem buying them.

That's exactly it! BUT, having to replace those 20? caps will make it less expensive for someone and lower the barrier to entry for people that don't have as much cash to throw at parts that are in perfect shape.

It all makes the hobby move along.

That only rationalizes it because you said it would be cheaper and it's only those 20 caps. Reality may not agree with you.

Well, it would have to be cheaper. Not working, caps have holes. I have no clue what these boards are worth. It's my first Nintendo: the marquee is OK, board is clean but nibbled and the CP is decent but has normal wear marks and so on. Gun is OK.

working DK/DKJr boards are going for $200+ these days based upon what i've seen here (at the least)

Oh yeah and I'd grab a new harness and working tested pcb from mikes arcade. He really stands by his product with his warrantee.

Assuming then that the harness in there won't work for DK?

No it won't but all you need is the control panel wires, 2 power wires and a video cable and audio one. I think you can have the coin door wires optionally but not necessary. I'll link you to what u need:
http://mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=DKBOARDSET
http://mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=CBL10PCLK

The control panel one comes with the panel you'll buy.

Amazing, thanks.
So the CP wiring will probably come with the CP I buy. What connects board to CP harness?
