More unspeakable acts against arcade games were uncovered today in rural Idaho. PETA, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Arcade games were on the scene and rescued the machines from their filthy living conditions. More information will be released as it becomes available. We do know there was at least one pinball machine and one jukebox also rescued . These photos were taken by our Boise correspondents.

Bally Strikes and Spares had one of its legs stuck about a foot deep in the mud, other than that it seemed ok. Gunfight Cocktail

My favorite backglass ever! If the game is toast, sell me the backglass. Please!

For being in a barn, they don't appear to be in too bad of shape physically...the cabs themselves anyway.

I could only imagine what those are like... the one "barn-like" find I found as a DKjr, and the cabinet stunk so bad it wasn't even funny... not to mention that it has rat shit and a nest inside of the cab, lol... And the lady told me over the phone that the cab "needed a little work", lol

Some pretty nice scores there. The cabs look to be in surprisingly good condition. How are the insides? Did you have to evict any critters from them? :001_ssuprised:

I think PETA did some fine work here, at the very least if the cabs are too far gone, maybe the parts can help restore other cabs. On a side note, I hope this PETA chapter doesn't do any nude billboards...

Damn Dave... how do you come across these barns full of old games?

Furthermore, what kind of an idiot would fill a rickety old ass barn full of these games when they could SELL THEM for much more money before the weather has it's way with them?

Finally, why don't you ever call ME to come help you on things like this. Does my breath smell THAT bad?

Probably starts with them hoping to sell them but thinking they're worth some insane price and being unwilling to come down on that price. After some time, they start coming down a bit in price but they still think they should be getting a lot more money than they're going to get with them being stored for a while. Eventually they give up and are willing to bulk sell them to someone that's taken the time to get friendly enough with them, but by that point they're all in shit condition from being in a barn for so long.

This happens with arcade games, cars, all sorts of collectibles:

Owner gets it and intends to either fix it up or sell it for big $$.
Owner doesn't get the offers he / she is looking for - and gets mad.
Owner decides "If no one will pay my price, I'll let them rot".

I always think this is incredibly stupid and lame, but I was guilty of it when I was younger. I had an Opel Manta that I wanted to fix and keep or sell and, when it came time to sell, a couple of potential buyers came over and badmouthed the car for about a half hour. I sent them away empty-handed and proceeded to let the Manta rot to hell over the course of a few years. Ended up letting an Opel parts guy tow it away for free.

that seems to be human nature unfortunately. I hope i get a barn find like that someday... there are tons of farms/barns not too far from where i live... mabye i should run a newspaper ad...
