Barcades Hitting Mainstream?

the least of your worries. to be practical about it, like others have said your bigger challenge would just be getting and keeping a liquor license

I'd never be interested in trying to open any kinda business (like that or otherwise) I'm just saying if I did, that's the direction I'd go

Only takes one dedicated, disgruntled competitor or customer who knows their shit that makes it their life mission to sic the law on you.

And he likes Galaga '88 which deserves more rec as well. Such an underrated game.

Ha! Seriously. I could write a dissertation on how amazing Galaga 88 is. How is is possible that more people aren't into this game, especially considering how popular its predecessor is? I attribute it to the general rarity of the cabinet an lack of opportunity for most people to experience its greatness. It's also tough as nails.

Yeah it's pretty great. We had a few people 1cc it when it was in a tourney awhile back. I came somewhat close at 645k. Definitely on my list of games to 1cc at some point.

I like barcades, beercades, arcades... I even like the washeteria with the waterlogged Donkey Kong. I'm picky about my beer, scotch and guns, but I buy my jeans at Walmart, and I don't really care what people think. The best thing about getting older is not giving a shit about what other people think.

"In your 20's and 30's, you worry about what other people think. In your 40's and 50's you stop worrying about what other people think. Finally in your 60's and 70's, you realize they were never thinking about you in the first place!"

I'm only in my 50s, though.

It seems to have crossover appeal also.. whenever I have seen one at a show there is almost always a chick playing it.

Getting a 1CC on TG settings is no easy feat. I've had the game for a few weeks now and have yet to get too close. But I'm determined to get good enough to do so. This is definitely the type of game that if more popular could inspire a pretty intense high score community.

Good luck and post your progress. There is an "optimal path" if you will that at some point later on avoids one of the tougher boards IIRC. By path I mean not taking or taking the warp, I forget, it's been awhile lol.
