Received this pin dead. I rewired in a known good williams transformer as the one in the unit tested dead and rewired in a new fuse holders with all new fuses. Now the playfield light up and the game coins up. Once coined up the scoreboard cams under the playfield keep on turning and do not stop. Also the head on this unit no bulbs are lighting up. What do I need to check next? I figure that somewhere to the head there is a issue. I will check it soon for power.

any ideas. I am more of an arcade guy but I will eventually figuree it out one way or another. Any ideas from the experts here on what to check next? Greatly appreciate any help

Thanks

The score motor is continuing to run most likely because of a dirty score reel switch. Have you filed all the score reel switches ?? How about if you advance every reel to the number 1 position, then start the game. Does it reset all reels to zero ?? If so then your dirty switch may be the motor home position switch on the score reel.

PM me with your email address , I have the old pinrepair.com guides saved before Clay took them down

The lights in the head should be lit up, check those jones connectors really really good. the wires that go into the male plugs like to pull out, shed back their insulation and short to adjacent wires, crack, etc.. Also I would get some sand paper and clean every male connector, it may just solve your problem.

Thanks alot. I replaced a defective 5amp fuse and now the game plays.--- YIPPEE- thats what happens when u work on games at night !!
Pop bumpers works well. Spinner works well. Side ball kickers are strong. Game does score and only 1 lamp is lit up on the backbox

New issues now are -
- left flipper is super weak- needs replacement
- ball does not eject to ball shooter for gameplay
- ball does not pop up from hole in top of playfield
- Tons of bulbs out on the backbox
- #1 and #2 flip flags do nothing when struck- #3 works well

I replaced all rubbers and rebuild the shooter assembly. I guess that I will need to order a bunch of coils for the remaining issues at hand and clean all the score reels. Anyone have the part numbers?

How many balls does this machine take for the playfield?

Dont go buying coils unless you know for a fact they are bad. Very rarely is it a bad coil that is causing something to not work, usually the problem is in the wiring and switches upstream of that coil. Are the coil wrappers burnt ? Do they have less than 3ohms each ?? I would get an emery board or sand paper and start cleaning all the switches. you need to be very careful with this, make sure you dont mess up any of the switch orientation. Ie, when your cleaning make sure that normally open switch is still normally open after cleaning. you would be surprised with EM's how after you play a few games and get some of the crud rubbed off the contacts they will start coming back to life. Also when you start cleaning contacts things will start working again, usually it only takes one dirty contact to make an entire feature not work.

I just put all the scores to 111's and they reset to zero. However the scoremotor started running again and will not stop. URGHHH

i did buy a file for the switch contacts. I will do this next. Yikes there are at least 100+ switches to file. OUCH

I do see 3 burnt coils under the playfield too

Verified that its a problem with the coil next to the game over coil. If I manually open it the game plays. Thinks its the interlock coil. I will have to replace it.

Both flipper coils make a buzzz sound? Is this normal for EM games? It is definitely weak and needs to be replaced. How many balls are there suppoosed to be for the playfield I do like hearing the door bell chimes- pretty cool !

it is normal for EM coils to buzz, especially flipper coils. Waht you are hearing is the 60HZ cycle hum. The coils do not go weak, they eaither work or they do not work. The part of the flippers that would make it feel weak would be worn coil sleeve, mushroomer plunger, mushroomed backstop, worn/broke flipper bushing, worn return spring.

Look at the trough switches, they will tell you if it requires more than one ball. I think as a rule of thumb all EM's just have one ball, unless there is a captive ball on the playfield.

Thanks for the advise. I placed an order with Marco 2 days ago for parts and they should be here any day now. I was doing alot of reading with the giude you emailed me and its great. Its really a wealth of information.

Thanks alot
