I've been working on a Space Invaders pinball, bringing it back from the dead. I was almost finished with it, when the left upper flipper (smaller one) stopped working. The larger left lower flipper still works.

I cannot find any copies of that great repair document that used to be on the web.

So any ideas on where to start? The coil is a three lug style with a diode. How do I test to see if the coil is good or not? I should mention that I have a new Alltek solonoid board in the game.

One more question... what size are the small connectors on the main board? I mean they're small! I reseated those and the game will no longer start a game unless I move some wires on one of those darn connectors. It also has a Alltek MPU replacement, so I'm sure it's not a cracked solder joint, just an old connector plugged into it.

Thanks
Tom

flipper help

i would clean the switch frist and make sure there no lose wires or broken leafs then i would look for burn mark on coils and make sure it moves freely, and finally i would make sure its getting voltage

Following up on my own post...

For the flipper issue, I do have power at the coil but I cannot get the coil to fire. I've ordered a new coil and will swap it out this weekend.

On the MPU board I found why I could no longer start a game without wiggling the wires. I had two broken .1 sized connectors inside. One of the wires that went to the start switch had broken.

It seems that about 95% of this games issues are due to bad, burnt, or broken molex connectors. Sheesh.

It's almost ready for the game room!

Last weekend I changed the solinoid out for the left upper flipper that was not firing. It, of course, did not fix it.

I looked at the schematics to find the connector the flippers connect to. Found it and pulled the pins out of the connector. They were fine. So back to the flipper. After some thinking about this, I cleaned the EOS switch and tested and the flipper now works. The EOS was not making any contact. I ran some emory cloth through the contact to clean it. I'll probably try to locate 4 new EOS switches for the game and change them all out.

I'll be moving it into the game room in a week and a half (I'll have help then!)
