I recently picked up a Bally/Sente cabinet with Gimme a Break in it. It's okay, but I preferred some of the other titles.

After getting a nice Stocker kit, I discovered that there are a variety of cabinet styles:

1. Original giant cabinet with white plastic near the top. It looks like it's leaning forward and going to crush you while you play it. :D

2. Wooden cabinet with green Bally/Sente diagonal artwork. There are 2 varieties of this cabinet. One has the entire front panel as a door panel. The other one has a metal door on the right front. Mine has the metal right front door. (BTW, I thought this was the only version before I did some research)

3. SacMan. Basically kits were made to use the Pacman / Galaxian style cabinet. All the parts fit the Midway cabinet, but the only thing used in the kit from the original cabinet was the monitor.

The electronics are pretty standard for all the kits. They are interchangable. But, when buying parts, it matters which cabinet they were made for.

The Stocker parts I got were from a different style cabinet. The CP is about 1/2" narrower on the kit I got (Wood cabinet has a 23 5/8" wide CP, kit has a 12 1/8" wide CP). Fortunately, the main "insert" that has all the CP controls are the same size and can be swapped between models.

Also, the glass artwork varies in size (marquees and bezels).

Does anyone know if the 2 original Sente cabinets use the same size CP's, bezels, and marquees? I'm assuming that my kit was for a Pacman conversion. What is the width of a normal Pacman CP? Are there 3 sizes of parts for the 3 cabinets?

Thanks,
Dave

I got one of the big plastic cabs, Dave.. It's currently at my friend's storage unit housing a Tetris. The same friend has the other kind of cab with the green and black side art housing a Badlands. Never notice the difference as fars as measurements go but never really checked. I'm actually like to get a Gimmie A Break for mine-can't believe you don't like that game but I'm not a fan of Stocker either....It's really easy finding the pcbs for these but some of those cp's are hard to find especially in good condition.....

Looking at the cabs, I'd say the SAC I deluxe has a unique lower profile cp. The SAC I has a more typical cp but hard to tell if its a complete metal wrap around type (like atari cabs) or just a metal top on wood frame. Either way it wouldn't work with pac-man cabs as those kits were likely made to retro fit an existing cabinet that already had a cp. Just artwork, harness and controls. Of course I've never seen one (SAC I) in person, so who knows, maybe the kits did come with complete new cp's.

Short answer: looks like 3 different cp's to me. SAC I delx = 38" width, SAC I = 25" width (approx) and Pac-Man = 26.5" width

@Schusler - I could use pics of the sente cabs if you have a chance. Been working on an article about the system and cabinet images are hard to come by...at least anything with detail.

No problem.....I'm going to move it to my storage shed in the upcoming weeks......

Here is my Street Football. Eventually I need to replace the cabinet as it has some swelling. Mine has the whole door that opens up at the bottom.

I have extra boards for Mini Golf and Gimme a Break I think as well as a CP for one of those but never hooked it up.

The Gimme a Break board works great, but the CP is really worn. The game came from a local arcade that closed in 2003. I remember playing this very game at "Playland" in the mid 80's -- and it looks like it!

Actually if you look at the conversion manual, none of the existing wiring or CP are used in the conversion from a Pacman cabinet, only the monitor.

Sente

I have a Gimme a break in a pac cab. I had a Stocker in a Pac cab also. I think it is a pretty neat system for the time. Not much to the daughter cards.

I have this one. When you take the glass off, and remove the Final Blow bezel, there is a Bally/Sente bezel under it.
