hi does anyone know of anyone who repairs transformers.i just bought one for my medusa and its junk thanks

The recitifier board or the transformer itself?

I don't think you will find anyone that can repair bad transformer winding, but the rectifier board can be replaced or repaired.

I would look for someone that is parting out a game. The bally games that use the same recitifier board as your game can be subbed in.

the transformer only dies when someone over fuses, does not that often. It is usually the recitifier board with problems.

I agree with Andrew - the only ones I know that repair transformers are those that do large industrial ones. I don't know anyone who repairs the small transformers in any pinball machines. You're more likely to come up with one on epay before you find someone who would repair one. And even if you did, the cost would likely be astronomical.

Even these guys admit that (to some degree): https://www.gstransformers.com/products/repair-a-rewind-services.html

"At times, repair work may be more expensive than getting a new transformer as more effort is required."

it is very doubtful of a bad transformer. in the million years i've been repairing games, it's happened... wait a sec... none times! (at least to me.)

In all the 40+ years of repairing pinballs, I have encountered ONE bad power transformer. It was on a Bally Xenon where some idiot had put in a 20 amp fuse in every spot on the rectifier board. It had a shorted diode. Even after replacing the bad diode and putting in the correct fuses, the transformer would start smoking after a few minutes and blow the fuse, even with no load connected. This was the first transformer I had to replace. I bought a used working one from El Dorado games. This was about 4 years ago.

i do remember them selling them along time ago yes ken..
but i am rolling with the other ops here and going rect. board is bad

I think I've had 2 total that were bad, but I work on some really beat games sometimes. Usually if they're bad you'll see that they've gotten really hot and all the wax or whatever it is inside of them has melted out into a puddle under the transformer...
