Sorry to be another "what's this worth" post, but I have been really wanting to get a pinball and wouldn't mind getting one on the cheap. I have someone that has a Bally Night Rider (solid state) for sale and wants $300 for it. It currently only lights up and does not play. As far as I can see from pics the playfield, cabinet and glass seems to be in decent shape. Do you guys think this is a fair price without knowing anything else?

My goal would be to hold on this one for a little while to get my pinball fix. After it is repaired and cleaned up, I would like to sell it as a down payment towards a more modern and typically more expensive unit. Am I on track or is this noobie foolishness?

You should check the boards in the head as well. If they are badly damaged from battery leakage it could cost you quite a bit of money just to get it up and running.

If the artwork is in good shape then I consider $300 reasonable for this machine in a non-working condition. However, if it costs you too much to repair then it may not be easily sold once you are through with it. I would expect it to sell for $600 to $800 locally in good working condition.

that machine is actually worth good money restored i picked one up planing on restoring it but i dont think i can do it mine works fine but looks horrible theres a site that just sold one a little under $3300 http://www.pinrescue.com/games/night_rider.html it was in mint cond. if you got that one and want to sell it let me know

Those are retail prices, not real world prices. For instance, he lists an Old Chicago sold at $2295. I know of three Old Chicago machines for sell right now at $400 a piece and they haven't sold. One has been on the market for over a year. I have seen these Night Rider pins sell for $250 and $300 in the recent past in WA and VA.

Damn... I'll sell mine for HALF that! First PM gets it!!

Night Rider is a pretty good game. I've had one for a couple of years. I bought it at a show in York, PA. There was actually both the SS and EM version there. I bought the SS one simply because it seemed to play better than the EM (weak flippers). It was neat to see both versions side by side.
