I am working on a black pyramid which is missing the mpu.I believe it calls for the 2517-35.From what i can tell by seeing pictures, all the 2518's look the same.I am sure there are differences, but what ones can i run in a black pyramid. Are any of the stern pcb's compatible as i am gathering they are based on bally boards.I'm not afraid of making changes to the boards if need be,but i feel my search for an mpu would go alot better if i had a wider range of board numbers to look for.I'm seeing the 2518-17,,35 and 133 but havent found any 2517 anything yet.

Black Pyramid uses an AS-2518-35 board. -17 can be made to work with some jumpers. -133 needs a diode swapped for a resistor, and jumper changes. Stern -100 and -200 will work with jumper mods/changes.

Thank you, sounds like i can buy any from that family of boards and be ok.With any luck i will score a 2518-35.

Bally -35 mpus are everywhere. It won't be hard to find one. If you need it worked on, I recommend Steve Kulpa and Mike Payne. Those 2 guys are fantastic at fixing Bally pcbs.

If you want a reliable MPU I would be willing to sell you one with a RAM adapter so you don't need batteries for $125 shipped. You can probably get something cheaper on ebay but I know mine will be reliable and I've sold several to KLOVers at that price. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Any of the Bally/Stern MPUs can be made to work, as mentioned. The only thing I would add is that you'll need to remove the 5101 RAM at U13 if you're using an MPU-200 in a Bally game. I cover the reason why in my 5101-6116 conversion guide:

EDIT: You should also remove the jumpers at E32-E33 and E34-E35 if you're using an MPU-200 in a Bally or MPU-100 game to get the correct clock speed. I also cover that in my clock speed conversion guide:
